Does anyone notice?

For some reason has anyone noticed that AMD's gpu seem to get better as they age? 

Even the R9 200 series seems to be that manner. Even now the last gens Vega cards are matching RTX in some of the newer games. As the 1000 series cards doesn't even match their 2000 series counter parts anymore in games with a single exception of the gtx 1080ti. It still kicks the 2080 in the face lol. "It's like AMD is a kid growing up to be a matured beautiful girl with a nice body, and nvidia is a hot bouncing chick aging in to an granny." 

Even the RX 500s lower ends are ass whooping nvidia lower e d premium cards. 

Can someone explain?

AMD is still using same architecture as before, unlike NVIDIA

AMD's Radeon drivers have historically not been all that great during the launches of their GPU lineups. However over time they iron out the kinks and let their GPUs stretch their legs, especially in games. Hence the FineWine.

It's a meme. It references the notion that AMD GPUs tend to "age like wine".

It's not a compliment that AMD seems to get better as they age.  It's because they aren't running at their potential upon release and they have to be tweaked and updated to achieve it over time.

Yes AMD drivers get better while Nvidia drivers get worse..

If you know what you're buying when you buy it, and it gets better over time, well, that's probably a good thing lol..

Thought we've covered this Nvidia drivers getting worse thing?  

 

If AMD would deliver the "2 years later" performance level on release they'd be a MUCH better place right now.  It's neat to say my card gets faster every year but when new cards come out with big bumps in performance beyond my "good aging"... not good.

Lol come on. I agree. They would be in a way better place.. But it's still a good thing if you go and buy a card expecting so and so performance and then you get that performance.. But then you get even better performance as time goes on.. That's not a good thing? 

 

Obviously please never go buy an AMD card expecting increased performance with every driver update.. That's not what I'm getting at..

 

I strictly got my VII because I like playing with AMD cards and overclocking them more. It's fun for me. But hey, if the preformance increases then I just consider that a plus.. (I wouldn't have gotten it if the drivers didn't improve as fast as they did, though) The 1080 ti and 2080 I had was mehh.. Probably because Nvidia already implements GPU Boost very well so you either get a great overclocker or you don't..
