2080ti getting better memory?

I read that in response to Navi, nVidia is going to upgrade the memory on their range. Can anyone confirm if that'll extend to the 2080ti because i'll put off buying one if so?

I know Nvidia's supposed to refresh most RTX 20-series cards with 16Gbps memory from Samsung, but I'm not sure if the 2080TI would be among the refreshes. It's kind of in a class of its own atm. I highly doubt Navi will prove a significant threat to it. 

 

However I have heard from a few sites that the TU102 and 104 chips might be refreshed with more CUDA cores enabled at some point. Maybe not quite as much as the Titan RTX on the part of the 2080TI, but close enough to not really matter.

 

If Nvidia releases a 2080 with 3072 CUDA cores and 16Gbps memory I might look into it. I wanna pass down my haggard 1080TI to my cousin, who's still slumming it on a 1060 3GB.

I am not worried about it. The last time they did this sort of thing it made no difference.

 

More memory is not a big thing for me either. Only my heavily modded games use all my vram and I have had 11gbs since the 1080 ti. I would like more next gen but it is not an issue now. 

 

Both of my RTX 2080 ti are heat limited. Even the FTW3 Ultra at 3 fans and 3 slots wide is not enough to keep it cool at its power limit. The only card that I have seen that has enough cooling is the EVGA Kingpin. This is about vram since some overheat before the GPU going by the sensors on the FTW3 .

 

If you decide to go RTX 2080 ti cooling and power limit is the most important. This is a much bigger deal than it was with the 1080 ti.

I'm not desperate for a 2080ti, I just want one and i'd rather wait and buy a better one if it's coming out in the next 3 months/Q3

better off waiting for next gen if you can, 1080 ti to 2080 ti is really meh, by the time it's Q3 it'd already been out for a year.

the GTX series will always be slower than any RTX card, for marketing reasons

I bet you'll have to wait for an Ampere RTX 3080 Ti, so Nvidia can keep their product stack split between low end GTX and high end RTX.

 

Or whatever it ends up being named if those RX 3080 XT rumors come true and AMD trolls Nvidia's naming scheme.
