JebKerman got a reaction from FoxxyRin in Can you re-purpose a Define R5's fan controller with any simple mods?
well I'd assume it's simply a voltage regulator, so provided you find an LED strip that plugs into fan headers (or molex with the right adapter), you could use it as a brightness control without any extra hassle.

yes, i forget how though. i found it in a google search though. I'll see if i can find it again.

EDIT: Here is a link to a way to do it. but i'm pretty sure whatever i did wasn't as complicated as this, and the option they use isn't there for me: http://www.cnet.com/au/how-to/automatically-log-in-to-your-windows-10-pc/

that could be interesting to try at least, however, they'd be moving different amounts of air, so I'm not sure it would work well

    I don't have the G910, but i do have the G310 (non-RGB TKL version of the G910).

While i don't get to see all of the features available to the G910 the software is very sleek and easy to use
Don't know about the failure rate of the LEDs haven't owned it long enough (a bit over a month).
Surprisingly fine, felt a bit strange as first but i got used to it quickly (going from a low profile membrane keyboard though). Logitech now actually sells a cylindrical keycap set as well (http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/romer-g-keycap-kit)

JebKerman got a reaction from TheRandomness in Is there really any actual use to a custom loop for your CPU anymore?
OCs are primarily down to a better chip, not cooling solution.

that said a custom loop will potentially allow for a higher heat dissipation capacity, however most chips with even a decent cooling solution will either hit a voltage or clockspeed limit or be practically ribbing up against it.

    not what he's after.

he's more after the Corsair 900D or Coolermaster HAF Stacker series. a separate box underneath the main case for the sole purpose of holding watercooling components.

and just adding to those, most Thermaltake cases can be stacked on top of itself, and are generally quite cheap.

at the opposite end of the spectrum there is Caselabs, most of their cases have a basement that can be purchased separately.

tbh i find 1 SSD to be easily fast enough, though your mileage may vary.

JebKerman got a reaction from Joel Silva in Skylake & Haswell-E PCIe lane misconception
I dunno about that, they found in the video that, for a similar system (same RAM, ASUS -A series board for appropriate socket), X99 is more expensive than Z170 by about $100 USD. They trade places in games (game dependent, oddly enough Cities: Skylines performed considerably better on the 6700K). the 5820K only truly won in some synthetic benchmarks.

I'd say Z170 wins for the majority of consumers (ok, maybe prosumers)

tbh I like Disco Inferno and Hotshot. though Disco would be better with a HUE+ or something similar to liven the innards up.

how do you mean "slightly modified" regarding the doms? Did you pop the top off or something 'cause i don't think they'd fit under the DRP3
    and
which colour 760T? (comes in black or white iirc)
which 390Xs (ima hazard a guess MSI?)

if this is very much a black and red themed build (black 760T, MSI, or possibly Strix 390Xs) I'd probably go with Hotshot (as a placeholder at least)

    here's a suggestion which isn't an answer.

don't actively think of a name, use the PC for a while, eventually something will come to you.

for example my "Current Build" went without a name for a few months, then I found my physical copy of "The Orange Box" and that's what I've nicknamed it since.

that's not what happened for me (well it did past a certain extent but those were frankly ridiculous, like 90Hz from 60)

72Hz was what i ended up with.
everything else up to about 80 would actually produce a picture, however the aspect ratio was (off black bars along the top and bottom) and no amount of custom resolutions would fix it.
