Django got a reaction from D2ultima in Best Way and how to recover SSD raid 0 after drive failure on MSI GT72 Dominator Pro
Yes, once you have restored the backup to the new 3 drive array. Using Intel RST UI in windows makes it very easy. The help file will explain, once you add the extra drive the data on the other three will be migrated across the 4 while you carry on working.

Similarly if you are RAID ready with just one drive, you can add a second drive later on to produce a RAID0 array and data will be migrated to the new member disk. Here's an example http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/official-msi-ge60-2013-owners-lounge.722196/page-73#post-9556273, the priciple for adding drives is very similar.

Do you really expect everyone to read ~700 posts? Better IMHO if the first post is updated, failing that then search which incidentally only shows one vague reference (post 565) to the folder I mentioned.

Django got a reaction from Dabombinable in have you thought of a Xeon on a laptop? no problem, Intel will do it this fall
FYI the Eurocomm X8 laptop has an option for dual 330W adapters to provide 660W of power, this is mainly for supporting dual GTX 980m SLI.

I do understand your argument of DT vs mobile. Personally I'd love to be able to bring a real DT type system with me and have even thought about doing so but for my needs it's unfortunately impracticable so have to settle for the lower performance and increased cost of a laptop. And no, it's not one of those leviathans. I don't need that kind of graphics power and I do have a limited budget.

Not sure why batteries keep ending up in the argument Also remember TDP is not the maximum power that can be used, even a quad mobile with a TDP of 47W is capable of pulling more than 100W.

Where are you getting 80+ from? The 1500 series Broadwell Xeons TDP's are 45W with up to 8 cores / 16 threads, current mobile quads are typically 47W/57W.
It should be obvious the mobile 1500m is not going to be spec'd at 80W or more but possibly allow more cores at a lowish base frequency for apps that are multi-threaded.
As for the battery you have this wrong as well. For Laptop performance you run off the brick, the battery in this case is your UPS. Have a power failure with your mini-itx and monitor setup and you have not only lost work but possibly corrupted the system unless you are going to lug around a UPS as well. Of course the battery can still be used for light work.

Not knowing something doesn't make you dumb. If it did then we are all dumb because nobody knows everything.

Start with the basics. Here's an example which while using bipolar transistors shows some of the principles of logic.

Basic logic circuits with ever increasing complexity until you get processors of today which are truly amazing works of engineering.

When the processor first powers up it is in 16-bit real mode, it has to switch to 32/64. So no problem whether running live or in a VM.

Drives fail for reasons other than writing to them. Outcome is the same, you replace the faulty drive.

Alternatively you could break the array and use the remaining drive(s) to recover or re-install if you have enough space for what you need to run your system on. However you can not do that if you are only using a single drive and it fails, replacement is the only option.

Haswell can run full speed when active without any noticeable down clocking with C-States enabled.
Sounds like a BIOS bug, is there a BIOS update you can try.

Django got a reaction from Decon in 840M OC?
Without a modified vbios you could try limited OC with "nvidia inspector" but check first on VRAM usage. If going over your 2GB of VRAM then system memory DRAM may also be used and cause stuttering.

You might just have to be content with medium settings.

the marriage between xtu and gigabyte is very poor

if you change the adaptive voltage value in xtu your computer is gonna crash. it doesnt work on gigabyte.

also xtu only works on a software level with gigabyte boards. it does not make changes at the low level \ firmware level. so when you restart the machine the settings are not applied to the bios.  i love xtu but its not the solution for setting adaptive voltage on gigabyte boards.
