So i recently got back into pcs and this is what i came up with.

So i decided to customize the tj080-e somewhat. Ill let the pictures describe it better then i can.
TLDR: Rotated case,Cut it so i can fit a full sized at motherboard inside, cut a panel for 2 x120mm fans.
 











 

skylake is more expensive the haswell and so is DDR4 and a Motherboard for said CPU and DDR4 I'd just go with the Haswell

I own both a 390 and 970 its a very tough one to answer.Games like arma and dayz will play better on 970 also rust.at 1080p id still buy the 970 at 1440p id buy the 390

So i redid my 550d completely and have done a few finished shots.A few things to tidy up.eg midplate as theres holes from my radiators.
   

Well here is my cable management 

So i made my self a custom backplate for my 390 since i got rid of my evga 970 ftw.
Still needs a custom decal that a mate is doing for me to be put on
 
So basically how i did this was i had leftover metal from when i cut my window so i took it down to an engineering shop they cut it to size for me and even scored the edges nicely all for free!
Then i filed it down so it wasnt sharp and got some 3m double sided tape but didnt peel off the outer sticky stuff all the way and have it attached onto my gpu now.Has not affected temps in anyway.

You have an airflow problem how are the fans orientated?

I haven't seen a pair of 390s that could match up to my 970s yet.....  Start overclocking these cards, and the 970 wins...at 1080.  Even at 1440 it'd be close.  Higher than that, or 3 panel setups, the 390 is the better option.

Lets start with performance.at 1080p the 970 was clearly winning,1440p they were very even,slight edge to 390
Overclocking 970 hit 1580mhz stable and gave a good 15% increase, 390 only overclocks to 1112 mhz 
3d mark both stock the 390 won only by a little
When both cards are overclocked the 970 wins,These were my tests and im a real end user

$20 a piece is bloody cheap try $40-70 each here

I would still get the R9 390, but it's not exactly a massive win by the R9 390. Its only slightly faster than the 970 stock for stock, and its nothing that can't be easily overclocked to not only beat but blow away by the 970.
 
The VRAM in the 390 is nice, but its also gross overkill. If a Fury X can thrive with a 4GB framebuffer, then you can also deduct that 8GB is going to be mostly wasted with a much weaker card like the 390. The 3.5GB of fast VRAM on the 970 is mostly not a concern, especially if you are doing 1080p gaming. The rule of thumb for these cards is by the time the game needs (not simpy allocate, BIG DIFFERENCE) 3.5GB/4GB of frame buffer, these cards would have ran out of GPU horsepower ages ago.

He's only able to get away with this because 95+% of the population has no fucking clue what a CPU is. I know what a CPU is, I know how to solder, I absolutely do not understand how CPU's work. I am intelligent enough to say "yeah, that shit makes no sense, might as well be witch craft, except I know someone else knows how they work."
