I've got a friend, I've known for a while. He's got a cheap $200 Pentium 4 computer with 1GB RAM. I've told him time and again, DON'T down random stuff. But every couple weeks, he tells me I downloaded this program that was supposed to speed up my computer, and now I've got a virus or something. It's gotten to the point, I am sad to say, I won't go over there and fix it. We're talking about 10 times I've gotten rid of viruses.

This, its the common evolution of technology. Sometimes I wonder if people would rather have North Korea being the first to create this, or the United States.

Who wants and 810 hp Twin Turbocharged Ford F-150 SVT Raptor? *raises hand* You don't know what the Raptor was designed for do you or even what it is? Its a truck yes, but its a stock truck with 400+ horsepower that you can take out into the desert and let lose and I'm not just talking speed, I'm talking jumping it. We're not talking about something like Chevy or Dodge where you have to buy parts and then install yourself, we're talking stock from the dealership here, it'll JUMP. It's got 12" travel in the rear, and 11" travel in the front via Fox Racing. Throw in the Hennessey package and you FLY and JUMP. I guess those Baja guys would never ever want an 800+ hp monster either? I guess the guys that want a truck thats fast and slammed wouldn't want it either. I guess the guys that want a fast truck with all that torque, loud, fast, mean and nasty to take off road on the weekends don't want it. I guess the guys that want to take the truck to the track, and then have a drive in it later wouldn't want it either. Again street legal.

And actually watching the Evo video they did on the Venom, I'll take that bet hands down. From what they said, its buttery smooth and will hold its own on the track or on the road. But hey. Really informative, let me see if I can get you a link to it.

We all knew this technology was coming, it was just a matter of when we would actually see it happen.

I can see many countries adopting this technology anyway, so saying "**** America" really is unnecessary.

Or you know, its getting the facts out there. I've been saying for a LONG time that there were options for Edward Snowden, yet he didn't take them, he didn't want to. This actually confirms that he a) had those options b ) shows that he failed to take them c) what those options entailed d) by disclosing information that he has, it really does hurt the Country, and e) That the system and mechanisms that Snowden failed to take actually work.

You can say, "its saving face" all you want, but I could say the same thing about everything Edward Snowden has said, including the lies about himself? Anyone remember the lies about the salary for instance that was ripped apart from ear to ear. The interesting thing is, when presented with information some people tend to just deny it out right instead of researching and learning about it, and try hard to discredit anything said, EVEN if its the truth.

I'm not arguing that they don't deserve independence or anything like that. When people start saying the UK doesn't have any enemies, I'll use it to show that they do. It shouldn't deter them from trying to get independence if they want it, but it does show that you can't claim no enemies.

Heads up though, we might be heading into Ukraine. Looks like Russians (residents of Ukraine supposedly) wearing fatigues and carrying automatic weapons have stormed the regional parliament in Crimea and raised the Russian flag. I say supposedly because of two key factors, Russia is sheltering the ousted President AND Russia just so happens to have a Naval Base right there, while launching armed interceptors to patrol the border. Along with saying they will respond to "defend the rights of its compatriots and react without compromise to any violation of those rights." Eyewitness reports put them as Russian speakers (no surprise considering the region), but were wearing uniforms with no markings. Along with docking warships in Cuba.

Let me quote a few things, its actually a really good article.

"Snowden has violated these precepts. He argues lamely that he decided not to raise his privacy concerns through "official channels" because of harsh treatment he'd received from a superior in 2009 for hacking into his own encrypted personnel files. He says he was turned off by the legal system because whistle-blowing cases have not gone well for defendants.   I could have told him that. Honest whistle-blowing is a blood sport, the only reward for which is knowing you tried to do the right thing. Snowden also insists defensively that he doesn't want to hurt vital intelligence programs. Yet even his favored media outlets — Britain's Guardian newspaper, the Washington Post and the New York Times — have withheld, out of concern for national security, some of the stolen documents he considered appropriate for release. He claims his only concern is for privacy. But many of his leaks, like those exposing National Security Agency operations against Chinese targets, and those involving critics and allies in Europe and Latin America, have nothing to do with 4th Amendment protections for American citizens and everything to do with ingratiating himself with potential benefactors, from Beijing to Moscow."

Why is everyone acting like he's leaving right now? Did any of you bother reading everything he's said? He said he will stay as leader for another year or longer if he's still needed, he said that even after he leaves the dev team he'll always be a part of the project and will always have some form of say on what goes on...quit acting like this is a one man development team. His main job is making sure that the game stays true to it's original vision and so on, once everything is set in stone, he can select another lead for the project and move on, and again i repeat this, even after he physically leaves the team, he'll still be involved.

Maybe it wasn't the best thing to announce this so early but so what? It wouldn't have been better to announce it later after more than a year of working on the game... Isn't he allowed to speak freely if he wishes so...i'm so tired of seeing everyone overreact, i guess this is how people treat honesty and transparency, by insulting the person...

Deadly serious. I mean, if you people would do more research instead of fawning over Snowden you'd know a thing or two. Of course, I mean people do worship the guy that complains about the US, but keeps his trap shut about Russia and other Countries... I mean, that is a hypocrite. I mean, all the people complaining about the US on here are just as much so because every time I point it out, people just go so what.

Wrong, you have to understand business and economics to understand how stupid and how much this would destroy us seeing another card with new arch. in the future. You see, they have to have cash flow to put into R&D (which takes years and years fyi) so that we can see improvements. Now take that cash flow away from either no rebranding or consumers stop buying soon we wouldn't have AMD nor Nvidia.

Calling someone a peasant because they have and/or like consoles shows that you have a LOT of growing up to do kid. I guess I am a peasant since I do have consoles, plenty in fact, and there are some games I enjoy playing on my big huge TV, with a custom built 5.1 high end Surround Sound system sitting next to the custom HTPC which is hooked to a pretty decent NAS array in the closet. Not to mention the gaming PC sitting in the game room upstairs with a slew of controllers from a G27, HOTAS Warthog, to a fully equipped Saitek Cessna setup with all the panels. And we haven't even touched on the stuff my better half has either. I sure must sound like a peasant to you. Boy you really do have a way with words, so instead of insulting your intelligence, or other things I shall leave you with something you will learn when you grow up. Never judge a book by its cover. Guess what that might be in relation to in todays lesson and I'll give you a cookie as a reward little one.

Any chance you could fix/change your title? It's very misleading.

Intel had $13.8B revenue, NOT profit. Revenue is all incoming money, while not taking into account operating expenses and losses. If their revenue was $13.8B and their operating expenses was $14B, then they would actually have a profit LOSS of $200M.

They actually made $2.6B NET INCOME, which is income after losses and expenses, which is your profit.

Now with that in mind! $2.6B profit for one quarter is still REALLY FUCKING GOOD! Last year (2013) they made just under $10B profit for the whole year, also a pretty solid number. Remember these figures are after R&D, manufacturing costs, payroll, and general operating costs. That's just money in the bank. Odds are they'll invest a bunch of it over the next several years back into R&D, but these companies like to have a large cash reserve (Look at Apple, who's cash reserve approached $130B at one point). Cash in the bank is great in case they pull an AMD and become unprofitable for almost a decade.

I think you are missing the point. Overestimating is one thing, it happens all the time, but telling your shareholders you have all these orders when you don't is another thing. Thats what AMD said, we have demand, we have customers when in reality they didn't. Thats how it reads from everything I read. That is illegal, especially when you consider they stated it to the SEC as well. Its called Securities Fraud.

*rubs head* This isn't about risk! That's the issue that people aren't really understand, because of limited knowledge. If it is just risk, I agree, considering I play the market. Well, someone does it for me, but I digress. You can't lie to your shareholders, and that is what this case is about. Its actually against the Law to lie to your shareholders like what is alleged, and the facts that I can find support that AMD did. Only a court can settle it. There have been cases like this before where it was either settled out of court, or by a jury settlement. The bigger ones as a matter of fact, were by this same firm that is going after AMD.
