riferaft reacted to jakkuh_t in DIY WiFi Cam Tutorial
I think I got everything... if you have any questions, ask below
------
The first step is to decide what you want your setup to be, as you'll need to know how many parts to order. There is a few different options, and once you've chosen, click on the parts list for your respective setup.
1. Single Camera w/o hub server
Parts list: Pros Least expensive setup Cons Lower attainable FPS/res 2. Single Camera w/ hub server - *RECOMMENDED*
Parts list: Pros allows for future expandability higher attainable FPS/res more reliable vs. no hub Cons costs more (you have to buy a second Raspi) 3. Multiple Cameras w/ hub server - *RECOMMENDED*
Parts list: Pros higher attainable FPS/res more reliable vs. no hub Cons cost (lol, 2 cameras + hub is still cheaper than a Nest cam) 4. Multiple cameras w/ a desktop computer as a hub
This is a setup that you can build, but I haven't investigated it yet, so stay tuned on this.
My recommendation is to have a hub server regardless of the number of cameras to ensure the best possible image quality, but if your budget doesn't permit, a single camera w/o a hub server can still work decently.
Click on the header for your desired setup to see the actual DIY steps.

Cases are like peripherals, they’re personal opinion based on uses and functions of the user. I like the looks of the Meshify C better.

It's messed up. Faster upload than download? Your ISP is either broken or doesn't know what 95th percentile billing is.

riferaft reacted to LordMastodon in Mark on new boxed i7 6700k
You should probably not put that in your system, because the chip may break and cause further problems. If you bought it from a store, I would drive back there and tell them to give you a new one, and if you bought it online I would call them and arrange an RMA to receive a new one. Although I am slightly curious, what is that mark? Does it seem like a dent, or is it simply a piece of dirt?

riferaft reacted to Scdouglas in Slow startup?
You either have an old ssd, it's a low end new ssd, or you have too many programs trying to start up when you log on. Go into your task manager, go to startup, and see if there are a bunch of programs enabled that are labeled "high" in startup impact. There could be some obscure problem in the works but that's your most likely scenario.

riferaft reacted to Stalkbroker94 in Too many case fans?
On my personal rig, I have 5 case fans. Only three of these fans really do any good; the other two are purely aesthetic. My friend told me it was actually a bad idea to have "too many". I already know I don't need more than three with the way I've set things up because again, it's just for aesthetics, but is he right or just blowing steam out of his...you know.

riferaft reacted to Lord Nicoll in New video endings and conclusions
On some recent video's, I've noticed they either end kinda abruptly or end without a clear or obvious conclusion. I noticed it again in this video. I feel like there is a part missing or something, it doesn't feel complete, it goes from results to a small conclusion and then a sponsor section at the end. I was expecting a bit more of a conclusion before it ends. Have any of you guys noticed it? Am I just blind or is this a thing that happens sometimes now?
