hmminteresting got a reaction from Ben17 in Thread for Linus Tech Tips Video Suggestions
I currently have the Razer phone 1. I got used my first paycheck to buy it and was pretty happy with it being my first flagship phone. However its been a couple of years now and after a month or 2 of having the phone I quickly realised I was a glorified beta tester for the phone.

I'm in the market for a new phone now. I liked the Razer phones specs (I come from the prestigious HTC one users), I like the speakers, the display, the fast charging and the selfie camera isn't bad (back camera even with the google camera API is atrocious). Also the performance is awesome. However its now clear that Razer aren't committed to updated this phone to pie or supporting it anymore with regular updates past security ones.

What I'd love is a round up of all the gaming phones currently on the market vs their non- gaming counterparts. At the end of the day the question I'd love answered is this: Is it worth getting a gaming phone. Spec wise I don't see any difference between gaming phones and non gaming specific ones except better cooling and faster displays. Is it worth this in the long run?

Essentially should I get the oneplus 7 pro or like any random gaming phone that beasts specs in terms of battery, RAM and display?

hmminteresting got a reaction from Technomancer__ in GTX 980 SLI haunted hardware
Okay so I fixed the issue it was apparently the fact that I only had 1 SLI bridge connected. I'm not sure why or how.

I disconnected all but my main monitor, still no change  I swapped the GPUs, no change I connected everything to the second GPU and ran it alone, it worked perfectly After performing all of these steps anything launched in fullscreen still crashed in SLI, so today my second bridge finally arrived and it worked perfectly i ran every benchmark in 3Dmark with flawless results and ran uniengine as well all in fullscreen and it works!

Now I'm sure that thats not meant to happen but at this point I'm just happy I can launch games even though I'll probably run them in borderless anyways

hmminteresting got a reaction from Castdeath97 in Firecuda SSHD vs 7200 RPM SATA drives
I've had an SSHD in my system for the last 3 years. It requires no extra set up steps, and is significantly faster than any normal HDD. I would highly recommend getting one. But like most components it depends on your use case. For mass storage such and pictures, videos and docs, go for an HDD, theres no real need for the extra speed. However if you're going to be putting games on it, specifically multiplayer games I'd recommend the SSHD, the load times are significantly faster. I also put a 1TB SSHD in my laptop along with the 120GB SSD and its great. However when it fills up I'm thinking ill just get a massive HDD for more storage

hmminteresting reacted to Bouzoo in Battlefront won't have microtransactions, says DICE dev. Yay, more Battlefront news...
Good news for those that are gonna buy the game (or bad, depending on where you stand). Yes it's getting kind of annoying with all Battlefront topics, but I think this one is kind of important. And deep down you all knew it was gonna end this way.

GameSpot went to an interview in DICE's Stockholm studio, and one member of the Battlefront team, design director Niklas Fegraeus, finally addressed the microtransactions, and as it turned out, they were never a plan of the core design (of course he is gonna say that, be it true or not).

As most people here, I am definitely happy for this decision, and I don't care if they removed it at one point or if it was never intended to be in the game, it's not there.
Now the most important thing that's left is for them to address the DLC system. Is it gonna be free, or are they gonna just pump them out every few months.

The 5600k is an apu. Apu's are for systems without gpu's. Do not buy one. Th fx 6300 is better  in every way. Even then Id go one of the intel builds. They will perform much better across all games.

Essentially, Comcast is actively trying to buy up big media groups including Vox Media.  A quick browse of wikipedia will show you that Vox owns sites like Polygon and The Verge.  Both Polygon and The Verge (which are commonly refereed to sources on the LMG forums, which is why this is a big deal) are heavily outspoken critics against Comcast for multitudes of reasons, including issues that stem around Comcast's terrible customer service and their position on Net Neutrality.

We'd like to believe Comcast's intentions are noble here... but, you know, it's Comcast.

I got the phone recently as an upgrade from my M7 which has started getting slower. The M9 is very fast, Excellent at multitasking and just feels much smoother. The camera received an update the day after i got the phone, I didn't get it on release, it is now much better. I especially love the front camera even though I'm not into selfies that much, It's especially good for video calling. The 4k video recording is 4K (duh) and looks amazing.

I have yet to put an SD card into the phone, i have the 32gb version which is enough for now. The buttons on the bottom can be rearranged which I love. The Wifi receiver is impressive on both the 2Ghz and 5ghz networks, they have great distance New functionality includes recognising when you are at home and having a customish home page where the phone will adapt to the apps you use most while in the location you marked as home, I quite like this as it actually shows the apps I use most (not a gimic). The sound is amazing as per usual and really its an improvement of the M7 which was a beast so no drawbacks there.

My phone came with the fast charger in the UK so it depends where you are but the battery lasts be a day and a half which pretty extreme use (watching videos, listening to music, whatsapp, web browsing and emails as well as calls and texts) however the recharge time is actually mind blowing I got from 3% to 80% in about 15 mins I don't know if its the charger or what but its amazeballs.I had to choose between this phone and the s6(edge cause of the edge haha). I chose this one cause I'm pretty comfortable with the sense OS and I find it easy to use, so really its up to you but the phone itself is a win. It does overheat a bit when playing stressful games or watching shows on netflix but as far as I've heard its just the new snapdragon CPUs' fault.

Overall its been about a week and a bit and I'm loving the phone so far so I'd say go for it.

On a side not about the battery life. I run with the power saver mode on pretty much permanently. As far as I can tell from doing this on the M7 and now the M9 the only drawback noticeable difference is that putting the screen brightness up all the way doesn't make it as bright. According to the phone CPU usage is more conservative and it limits the network usage a bit, but I don't notice this so it depends on your personal usage.
