GUIMiner Connecting...

Hey guys, this is my first LTC Mining rig, I have a 7970 GPU and I want to start mining LTC. I have a Mine-Litecoin account and I've created a worker. When I press start on GUIMiner-Scrypt alpha, it get's stuck at connecting and nothing ever happens.

Does anyone know what this might be?

Thanks y'all

Did you create a .bat file to start the miner with?

No, since this is the GUI miner and not a command line miner, you can do everything from within the GUI.

It just gave me this command btw..              Listener for "Default" started

Oh sorry, for some reason I read it as cgminer. Either way, see if your antivirus is blocking it. I had loads of problems with Avast doing that. :)

Are you using your worker name or account name? It's supposed to be your worker name and worker password.

You may also need to forward a port for it to use.

Are you using the stratum address?

Is it pointed at your worker/password, not username/password for the pool.

Include a screen shot of guiminer.

I'd recommend using CGminer directly over a guiminer.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Users cannot, and will not securely manage key material. Most users can't and the ones that can, wont.

Ask me about Bitcoin, Litecoin, Crypto-Currencies, and/or Mining them.

yes, I'm using username/workername for the name and the  website I use is mine-litecoin.com.

1: So you have entered: For example: RobertVG.2 (RobertVG as username, and 2 as worker, and then the dot is to separate them) and then the password in the box?

2: One of my GUIMiners has stopped working, and CGminer is much more stable ;)

I just got myself set up with mining too.  Or so I thought.  I'm having the exact same issue.

On guiMiner switch the defaults to low 7970. Lower intensity and thread concurrency  works much better with 7970s.

Thanks bud, I did that and all it did was to create a listener for 7970...This is what the console says:           "Listener for "7970" started"

The problem has to be in your username and password or the pool itself.

If you want to quickly test that enter these settings just to see if it will start.

Host: netcodepool.org        port:3333

User: AK0490.test            Password: x

No problem, it looks like its working...Hmmm that is very weird...

It says:

Probing for an alive pool

Network diff set to 177M

Stratum from pool 0 requested work restart

Stratum from pool 0 detected new block

Stratum from pool 0 detected new block

etc

Is it showing accepted shares and Kh/s? If so just double check your worker name and password on mine-litecon.com or switch pools.

Yep. It's accepted 9 shares at 418khash/s...

What could be wrong with my worker name? I've switched almost 5 pools now :P

Try creating a new worker and keep it simple. I normally use AK0490.1  with password x   Keep it short and simple, it doesn't matter if anyone knows your password the most they can do is mine for you.
