So considering collaboration generally comes to a  better understanding and answer i decided to come here. The MAIN purpose of this graphics card is for gaming, but i also stream and record on the side.

So to cut the the chase which is better for gaming? The 770 or the R9 290:)

I personally am getting the 770 - but I would still recommend the R9-290. Just wait until an aftermarket version with a different cooler.

What displays are you running? You don't need 4GB of VRAM unless you're running resolutions above 1080p.

well the 290 has more raw horsepower but does use more power but theres mantle which no one really knows if it will improve or not and then with 770 u have less power not as powerfull still decent and u can record with it without buying a capture card or using fraps and u get support for g-sync and gamestream so its really up to u what features u want.

get a R9 290 and put a Arctic Accelero Xtreme III on it, or wait for non reference cards, but don't buy a reference card.

290 with custom cooler.

if you dont wanna wait, 770 4GB is also beast and enough for most games at 1080p to get 60+ FPS

Yes, If i do go with the R9-290 I will be waiting for aftermarket coolers, and i am only running 1080p, but i would like to have the flexibility.

No contest. The 290 should be compared to the 780.

R9 290 all the way. More powerful than the 770... Besides if you want power why not get the 290? They are about the same price... so... more power better?

But! Nvidia has some nice features with their software that might make you choose a 770...

If you buy the 290 don't buy the reference design cooler, it runs too hot. Wait till the aftermarket coolers are released in like 3 weeks.

Just asking although I really don't know the answer to it. Hypothetically in Battlefield 4 at the highest settings which is ultra maxed out everything which card will have more vram usage?

I don't have the answer but hopefully not dictating which one is using more or less vram will just be a answer. No right or wrongs.

The 770 is not that powerful... They be charging too much. the 780 is worth it for the price but not the 770.
