7 gamers 1 cpu- any reason you think linus used 1 psu?

I would think he definitely knows about using multiple psus, and the case labs cases that have mounting points for 2 or more, any reason yall can think of he didn't go for that option when faced with that problem using fury Xs?

^This one even supports 4, and I know Linus saw these cases with 2 or more psu slots, and probably even considered them 

 

No 'splicing' needed either, they make adapters you can hide, or you can make you own plugs for it. 

Even if you DID need to do some messy hand wiring, it can easily be hidden. 

 

And I hope no one thinks I'm saying

"I could do it better", because I really doubt it. I wouldn't have thought of reaching out to EVGA for a custom solution, and would have used risers and a ghetto looking test bench style case or had a much more ghetto looking single slot watercooling solution. Plus, I never would have the money for this, and even if I did I would never simply have the balls to risk 30k on this working. Likely, in the same situation, I would have reached out to others to help me design it, simply due to a lack of confidence that everything would work together. 

It's the coolest build I've seen ina  long time, and that's why I'm so interested in this.

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

I feel like two PSUs could have gotten messy

so that he can fit it in a standard case easily maybe. second one will look very messy imo

not really if you do it right. Plus, 1600 watts (plus monitors!) is a LOT of power draw, and while these events are equipped for it, having the load split on 2 PSUs makes the machine more flexible as far as setting it up. The event organizers expect high load systems, but not 1600 watts. Two 800 watt loads on 2 lines in some cases may be a godsend without having to pre-plan for the system's presence. I don't know, I'm just thinking if I were to bring that to random events, and not just CES where they are planning on displaying it.

case labs had plenty of cases that support multiple PSUs. And the case he chose was far from a standard case, it was a pretty large case labs one.

no. Not only can you make female plugs for this, they sell adapters. 

Though, I know why you think that, and it's possible linus thought this as well. It's a known about thing, but most people don't know how common it actually is.

that's approaching dangerous to draw from 1 line at certain places (some home wiring) with screens.

Also, you need support for that big dual cpu mainboard as well as lots of space for the watercooling solution, which is given in that case.

I guess it would have been possible to split it up with different smaller radiators mounted on different positions, but that would also mess it up.

And as this thing is presented at CES, it should not look messy at all.

idk prob. I know he used a caselabs case that was vertical, but this isn't the only one there is. I really don't remember.

Jay uses a Caselabs Magnum SMA8. The very first gunmetal SMA8 ever produced, actually.

Might've hurt the single computer image they were going for. At that point there would've of been two of everything except the mobo basically xD
