Is The Verge actually biased?

EVERY review is Bias - there is NO such thing as an objective review (that is called news, or a spec list)

Considering that every American news channel is heavily biased to some degree does that mean they're just reviewers :^)

On topic: never really cared for The Verge, don't know why you should

What I mean is every product gets a fair shake at what they do. Linus, while being more angry at the product than anything, said that the Surface Pro 3 wasn't for him. Now I agree with some of the points he was making, but what people should do is judge the product. He did do it in some objective fashion, but I figured he wasn't going to like it since he was so used to that Dell 2-in-1.

But its IMPOSSIBLE, even if you WANT to give a product a fair try, if you dont like it, you dont like it, and you can talk as much as you want about objectivity but the reviewer writing his words will still be having negative thoughts

Thats just the way humans are, you 100% cannot just judge a product based on objective fact, everyone has personal bias when it comes to products and it absolutely will be present in a review

here is a 100% objective video game review

Lisa from MobileTechReview seems to do a good job at it.

Its still a fact thats its impossible to be 100% objective 100% of the time - unless you only talk about specs and give no personal input

as soon as the reviewer says what they like or do not like, they are being bias, their personal opinion, is bias, everyones opinion is bias

Why is it that since it's an Apple product you treat it differently - as if it had no flaws.

Because apple only sends review units to reviewers who are positive about the products. Publications like The Verge know that apple products attract a lot of clicks by the average (techwise) Joe, a much wider demographic than tech enthusiasts like us. They simply make more money by getting apple reviews out quicker, so they really don't want to stop receiving review samples in advance. I have stopped taking such websites seriously a long time ago. I only care for reviews in the LTT model, where regardless of the reviewer's opinion you get a thorough, complete look at what the product does or does not, so you can decide for yourself if it's worth the money.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Every reviewer out there has a basic conflict of interest, they take advertising money from the same companies and for the same products they review. Some of them handle comparing products more objectively than others. That conflict of interest is really defining the landscape of media today.

I think it's possible. Call me names all you want, but I don't see how it's impossible.

Yes, opinions are bias. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about an actual objective review of a product.

Of course Apple products always get reviewed highly by huge publications... Otherwise big daddy Apple will get mad at them and no longer send them free review units.

Not sure if I'm being sarcastic writing that or not...

In any case, it all depends on who wrote the reviews. If you give an Apple fan the latest Apple toy, of course they will lavish it with praises. (same can be said about most fans of most brands)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB / RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3200

That's Jim, though. I've seen some of his content before. I think I saw Totalbiscuit's podcast with him on there and they were talking about objectivity.
