How to get better internet

Knaj

So, I really would like to be able to get better internet on my PC.

Ethernet is not an option sadly.

How can I achieve this?

I have these current thoughts:

- Add another Wifi adapter to my PC.

- Add extension cords to my current antennae to move them closer to my router.

Since it sounds like you are running off of wifi I would say switch over to the ethernet master race

Can't. The company that owns the lines running in our neighborhood won't share with other companies, so we're stuck with our current provider.

Fucking comcast.

Power Line Adapter? I know they often have varying results but it may be worthwhile.

My mac can usually get 30 mbps download, but there have been several times this month where the internet just shits out and I get like 2 mbps down and 0.5 mbps up, along with a ping of 400.

Have them check the connection at the street, our was corroded because it was in ground and our internet was flakey. Fixing that and one bad in house cable fixed it.

Better LAN speeds: WiFi with a higher-end router and a higher-end interface card. You could probably set up the interfaces to work in parallel (don't ask me how to do this on Windows). Honestly, consumer wireless solutions are just shit; there's no getting around that. However, you can make it better in some ways. If you're looking for straight up/down speeds then you can definitely remedy this by upgrading the router and possibly the wireless card in the machine (although many out there are snake oil). I don't deploy many wireless solutions that actually need extreme performance (done this twice; my house and some office), so your mileage may vary. Honestly, you're going to be spending hundreds of dollars on a high-end router to actually provide decent LAN speeds. You would seriously be better off trying to find some way to get the Ethernet to be an option. What is limiting you on this? Why can you not use it? In almost every case, you can fix this. I run a cable across the house into a gigabit-compliant network switch, but I've snaked it under the carpets (which is super easy to do, don't even need tools).

Better Internet: If you're absolutely sure your Internet is the problem here, then your only choice is to upgrade your package or find a better ISP. No questions asked, unless you want to do something freaky with your phone's mobile data (that's unlikely to not have a data cap).

Maybe a powerline adapter?

I just moved my rig off ethernet to my new dream gaming room/bedroom (in progress) in my basement. My wifi can be a dink sometimes, so I grabbed a powerline when I moved my rig down here.

I have 50 down, 10 up, and with shitty wiring in my house, my TV going, and my dad on his PC I just got this on speedtest.
