CX430M With Haswell

Go to solution Solved by STRMfrmXMN,

I found a power supply, but the main thing is that it is not modular. Will there be any way to change the cable colors? I was wondering if there are colored extensions and hide the rest behind the motherboard tray. That being said, how much space would those wires take up behind the motherboard? (I'm using the Corsair 100R case)

The 100R probably won't have trouble managing colored cable extensions like these: http://www.amazon.com/BitFenix-Alchemy-Multisleeve-24-Pin-Extension/dp/B00HVBPS6W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1448170369&sr=8-1&keywords=blue+24+pin+extension

It would take up lots of space though, just a warning. Having those cables with plastic bits bulging out that connect the extensions to the main 24-pin can be annoying. I managed to fit one into my Nanoxia DS4 though (has like no space behind the mobo tray for cables) so you can surely do it.

Is the CX430M a good PSU for my rig? My main concern is if it's compatible with Haswell, or "Haswell-ready." I have seen conflicting answers online, with some people saying that it is definitely not compatible with the C6/C7 states, and others on this forum saying that it is. Others say that the CX430M is not good with GPUs like mine, and for gaming rigs in general.

Is the CX430M compatible with Haswell's C6/C7 states? Is it good for my rig?

It's compatible, but it is not a good PSU. Go for an XFX or SeaSonic PSU, instead.

its not a great unit, you can definitely get better, especially if you plan on ocing your cpu, if you were getting like an i3 and the 950 then i would say it would be fine

spend a couple bucks more and get this one, the psu is the one place you dont want to skimp

It will work, however from my experience with my CX850M, do not buy even the newer Corsair CX range, they are overpriced to begin with and they do not like being put anywhere near their full load.

What modular power supply (full or semi) would you suggest? I am planning to overclock in the future.

I was looking at the Corsair CS450M. Its a CS series, so I don't know how much better it is. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-cs450m

It's not significantly better. EVGA's B2/GS/G2/GQ is far better. So is Antec's High Current Gamer 520W M. Anything from XFX/Seasonic.

|PSU Tier List /80 Plus Efficiency| PSU stuff if you need it.

Thanks, that was really my only main concern in buying a non-modular power supply.
