GPU fault i think?

TopBanana

Hi there, got a problem. I used to play games with no problems like Witcher 3 , Heroes of the storm, my GPU is Nvidia 660. out of nowhere about 3weeks ago all my games started to lagg like crazy, Temps are all good so it's not overheating, all my drivers are up to date windows updater up to date aswell, at first i thought win 10 might be causing this so i got back to win 7, and now it's worse i think, after playing Heroes of the storm for about 5minutes my pc restarts giving me this or sometimes it says that my graphic drivers recovered witch gives me another 5 minutes of gametime

i would suggest going back to windows 10. its a newer os and because of that your going to have better support. here are some things you can try:

-motherboard bios update

-gpu firmware update

-check the temps on all your components not just your gpu. HWMonitor is good tool for that

-also give us the full specs of your pc since the psu could be the problem too

Desktop Build Log http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/486571-custom-wooden-case-with-lighting/#entry6529892

thinkpad l450, i5-5200u, 8gb ram, 1080p ips, 250gb samsung ssd, fingerprint reader, 72wh battery <3, mx master, motorola lapdock as secound screen

Please quote if you want me to respond and marking as solved is always appreciated.

my friends GPU is Nvidia 970 (eats much more power then mine) and it works fine

is there a chance that my directx versions is terrible or missing something? then again it should be all fine from win updater

HDD? Mind checking all your resource utilizations during gaming (put task manager up and swap to it right after a lag issue and screenshot/examine resource utilizations to see if there is a pattern

You should check you system for hardware failures . Something might be damaged ( mobo vrm , chockes etc or ram stick)
