Intel Stock Fan Control

Munchic

Hello, am I able to control the Intel Stock Cooler fan speeds on start-up? Because it's really noisy when it winds up (Stock cooler for i3-4370)

Use speed fan, set custom curve, and make speed fan auto lunch on start up.

Or use BIOS if you have something like Q-fan.

Thanks. And another question. Will anything change, if I change to a more premium thermal paste?

It's supposed to spool up at full speed on start up.

Yea, that's the problem

Well theoretically you should get lower temps.

Nothing you can do about that.

The guys in upper comments said that it's possible to do so

They're talking about during operation when it's already booted up. At start up, it will always spin up and then once it gets booted up, it'll go into the fan curve you set. If you want something quieter you have to buy a new cooler.

In theory you'll get slightly better temps.

If it's as soon as you turn it on, the fan goes full power until the fan curves are loaded by the bios, it makes it so if the bios didn't load properly your CPU won't overheat and die, it's all by design and isn't designed to be another way.

But why that happens? And there's no way to regulate that?

No easy way for sure, and if you wanted to you would have to make a custom bios for your board, witch would be a bad idea unless you work on a motherboard bios development team for a board manufacture.

So just learn to deal with it, or get a quieter CPU cooler.

Even though Intel makes acceptable stock coolers, I always advice to get a new (in your case quieter) one, it really does not cost that much.

It doesn't need to be be Quiet! or Noctua to be good, I noticed that Raijintek makes some decent CPU coolers.

Might be worth checking out.

It's because the fan is controlled by the BIOS and it is run at 100% before the BIOS is loaded. I think...

At startup BIOS performs quick selftest to see if everything is working. After that all fans will slow to what is predefined in their firmware. This applies with all modern GPUs and mobos. The only way to reduce startup speeds (and inherently all other speeds as well) is to use voltage regulators. They will reduce max rpm. But effect will be permanent as long as regulator is in use.
