Well there is a lot of them if you know what I am talking about but I think I can't promote them on this forum :). But if you need the general freeware stuff go to NINITE as @Nonco said

but download.com (shareware and trialware) and sourceforge (FOSS) are good places to start...

You mean like drivers?  You gotta go to the websites of the manufacturer's.  For me I go to ASUS's site for the motherboard drivers, Intel's for the CPU drivers, NVidia's for the graphics card drivers, and Crucial's for SSD firmware updates.

 

 

Windows update.

 

Lastly, windows updates will usually get most of this stuff for you anyway.

As for programs which you need, Download them from the source.
