Cpu problems?

I don't know whats going on with my cpu but at idle (nothing running except for hardware monitor) its goes from its lowest speed of 1.3 and ramps up and down to .1 ghz faster than you have it clocked at... So like at my overclock at 4.3 its would go from 1.3- 4.4 and do that over and over again. And the temps where as if it was at 100% load. Even though the usage said about 20% which is normal..

Its an fx-4130 stock at 3.8

Is it just dying or what?

When my cpu is underload (amd fx-6300 @4.2GHz) it also changes the clock speeds. Mine go from 3GHz to 4.2GHz. Thats normal for under load, but very strange if it happens while idling.

Which program do you use to messure your clock speeds? Also, are there any background programs which use alot of cpu recources?

I am using harware monitor.. And my clock speeds change rapidly very fast. And all of cores change at different rates and they are never constant

If it's holding steady at 4.3Ghz (or whatever you have it clocked at) under load then you have nothing to worry about. Use CPU-Z btw.

I have cpu z too   its the same. But at idle its ramping up and making lots of heat as iff it was at full load. I just want to know whats wrong..

The CPU ramping up and down is normal -- it is one of the power-saving features now implemented in many of today's modern CPU's.

What are your idle and load temperatures; can you post a screen capture showing those values?

What CPU cooler are you using? stock? aftermarket?

What is the rest of your system specifications (other than the FX-4130 and Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 motherboard that you have already mentioned in your posts)?

You said it yourself, The CPU is at around 20% usage. Just because the clock speed is at the highest point doesn't mean it's under full load. I have my 2500K at a static 4.5Ghz at the moment and of course it's running a slight bit warmer idle than it would be if i was letting it downclock itself with power saving features but not anywhere near as hot as it would would if it was under an actual load at 4.5Ghz while gaming for example.

I don't understand it but it works

I have triple 120mm fan intake too. And I don't know how to take screen shots..

Bingo!

Thank you for the video. (BTW, screen capture -- use the "PrtScn" key on your keyboard)

HWMonitor's "Temperature" --> "Package" gives incorrect readings when the system idle.

Rum a stress test, like AIDA64 or Prime95, then it will give more accurate readings.

If you go to 0:55 in your video, with Gigabyte motherboards, "Temperatures" --> "TMPIN0" (or TMPIN1) is your CPU temperature.

Your FX-4130 is sitting at ~31*C.

WTULDmx.png

The other two is motherboard temperature and CPU/NB temperature (I don't recall which is which exactly for Gigabyte boards).

For comparison, here is HWMonitor for my FX-8350.

sRfUhHv.png

As you can see, my "AMD Fx-8350" --> "Temperatures" --> "Package" is not correct either; it is showing 18*C.

It seems that with ASUS motherboards, HWMonitor actually labels which temperature reading is which (i.e. "CPU," "Mainboard," "SB,"...etc)

The other two is motherboard temperature and CPU/NB temperature (I don't recall which is which exactly for Gigabyte boards).

For comparison, here is HWMonitor for my FX-8350.

My Asus H97M-PLUS didn't have everything specifically labelled... Think it's for like AM3/AM3+ boards... Especially seeing AMD has terrible sensors on their cpus.

Hmm...it may with certain motherboards only.

Here is my ASUS Maximus VII Hero (with an i5-4690K). It has temperature readings labelled as "Mainboard," "CPU," and "TZ01" (which I am unsure what that is).
