970 first. CPU will outlast the GPU.

Edit: Oh. If it's 1080p, you should be fine with a 960. But still, a 970 is fine.

If you upgrade the cpu within a year then yeah.

You do have some pretty good options for upgrading the CPU if you have a Z97 board.  You can pop out the G3258 and replace it with a 4690k or 4790k for much better compute power.  I'd say grab the 970 now and upgrade the CPU later, even though the G3258 isn't a great match for the 970 as is.

970. The 960 is a joke for its price.

Wait a little while until July for AMD's 3xx series? More options/slight price drops.

Mobo: Gigabyte 970A-DS3P CPU: AMD FX 8350 RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3 8gb (2x4gb@1600Mhz) GPU: Gigabyte R9 280x (factory oc) PSU: Thermaltake SmartSE 730w Case: Corsair 200R

Why do you think that?

It's just not worth the $200 when there are other cards that will perform better, for a similar price, or slightly more. (I don't have a job, and I can save up $40 in two weeks)

Especially if someone is willing to wait until the 300 series drops, gonna be some price drops going around.

Are you referring to the R9 280 as a better card? I'm interested because I can't decide which one I should get.

I would go for a 280x over a 960. Although I currently have a 970 so :\

If I had to change my choice, I'd have gotten a gigabyte 970 instead of the strix since it's more overclockable.

For 1080p the 970 is overkill.  Unless you plan on upgrading your monitor resolution too,the 960 makes more sense.

imo get a 960 and upgrade the CPU to an i3 instead of a 970.  Costs about the same amount of money.

Meh, $40 more doesn't seem like a huge jump. It's all up to you though.

I'd go with the 970, and upgrade the CPU later.

The 960 is a lot more limiting.

Hell I'd almost save the money and get a 270x over the 960. They're not that far apart performance wise.

This CPU will not...

The Pentium is a really budget, stopgap CPU.

acu is a horrible port. hard to get decent framerates last i heard.

if you plan on upgrading the cpu soon, then get the 970. if it is going to take more than 6 months then i'd wait and upgrade the cpu now and see how the gpu market goes. i doubt the 960 or 970 will give you decent frame rates in acu with a the pentium anyway.

Go with 970 and get rid of that G3258 as soon as you can, it will even bottleneck that 960.
