Video Showing Cortana Integration in Recent Unreleased Windows 10 Build

RH00D

I'm really getting excited for this new browser. The integration with Cortana looks awesome.

Cortana integration is one feature that stood out to me when Microsoft unveiled Spartan back in January. The idea is simple, Cortana surfs the web with you, occasionally pulling in useful information that can help you out. Say for example you visit a business’s website, Cortana will attempt to find important information about the business that she thinks you might want to know, including opening hours, location, phone numbers and reviews.

She can also help you out generally when you need her. One way I frequently used her was when reading articles or information. I’m no English teacher, so every so often I’ll come across a word I don’t quite understand. Luckily with Spartan, I can ask Cortana what a particular word means, and without taking me to another webpage she’ll pull in the definition of the word in question, allowing me to better understand the content I’m reading.

Notice how I said ask Cortana, the function is actually called “Ask Cortana”. It works by highlighting the word or phrase in question, right click, and selecting “Ask Cortana”. It works for a wide array of things, including locations, foods, companies, and more.

A new build of Windows 10 is expected to be released very soon, including Project Spartan browser. Many people thought it would be last week of February so it should be any day now.

I remember when WinBeta were frowned upon by MS for leaking info about upcoming Windows, now M?s use them to get information out in the wild and give us 'first looks' at new features.

Spartan looks cool with Cortana, very useful indeed.

I like Halo but they're really milking as much as possible out it, aren't they? I'm assuming they will start naming every Windows feature after something in Halo now?

And yet they still won't release the damned game for PC....because reasons.

All I want to know, is can cortana be disabled and or turned off? I don't like voice recognition that's always on, I don't want my computer listening to me at all times.

1) cos it is a bad game

2) hope so

3) it could be handy.

4) nobody wants that. Unless your dictating a document, that would be cool.

Bad game or not, some of us would like to play the campaign without having to waste our money on an xbone

I know.

Don't get me wrong, voice controls would be nice, but I'd like to be able to disable it and (unlike some stuff on cell phones) have it actually be disabled. I don't want it to be like Samsung smart TV's where you can't turn it off and it just spies on you 24/7

I'm pretty sure that there will be three settings; Always listening, Enabled but needs to be activated, and disabled. Microsoft probably wouldn't want to risk ruining their product's reputation like that.

Every topic I post in dies.

You mean like they did with the release of the xbone? Maybe they've learned their lesson.

They promptly fired the guy responsible, Don Mattrick, and replaced him with Phil Spencer who has reversed nearly all of Don Mattrick's decisions. :)

Oh good. Now if they could fire the idiot that decided games could be exclusive to the xbox, instead of the Xbox and PC.
