SP or AF fans for a 900D air cooling config

Hi

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I am currently in the process of building my new PC and I have a 900D case. At the moment I am air cooling but plan to water cool in the future. I was wondering if any one could give me some advice on what type of fans would be best. I will be creating a positive pressure environment.

In terms of make I was considering Noctua (either standard or PPC) and Corsair, but please feel free to recommend any other brands you think would be good. The main issue is I'm not sure whether to have mostly static pressure or air flow fans. I will be using sp fans for my AIO CPU cooler and air flow for the top exhaust fan.

I was going to leave the front panel on and unsure whether to take the bottom side ones off so it is the filter. Should I go with sp fans in the front and air flow on the sides?

Thanks for all your advice =) its all appreciated.

Use AF for the 1 rear fan at the back of the case, front and top/bottom use SP.

I personally wouldn't use Corsair fans though, take a look at some Aerocool DS fans.

blackshades on

You should use SP for any radiators and AF for pretty much everything else. Corsair's fans are loud and expensive for what they are, I would recommend NB BlackSilentPros. They are good for both rads and case fans, so it may be worth buying some so you don't need new ones if you have a full loop later.

Thanks guys for the help =D ! Does it matter if the fans are 3 pin or 4 pin? I have a Maximus Hero Vii and want to use the fan control on it

Silverstone ap121's for 120mm or ap141's for 140mm. They are both 3 pin but they can go as low as 600ish rpm. And if mounted in the front, they ll direct air straight to the gpu ( check some vids if you dont see what i mean)

Though 4pin fans will probably allow you to go lower.

I'd get static pressure fans all around, the noctua ppc are good but expensive, had 3 and returned all 3, spending 90euro on 3 fans is just...not necessary imo ( and im a silence freak)

As for the corsair ones... they are okay but nothing spectacular

Hey there. You are looking mighty fine today, have my virtual cookie!
