How can I make my fans Semi-Passive

Matthew12106

After watching the video Linus just posted about the ultimate silent PC guide I saw that he makes his fan semi-passive using Asus control suite or something. I have tried this in the past but it hasn't worked for me. I tried installing Fan Xpert again but it wont let me put the fans down below a certain point and there is no switch off button or something like there was in Linus's version of the software. Is it because I'm running an older motherboard or something. Here is a picture of me instead the software.

The first version of AI suite does not support a 0RPM fan mode like AI Suite II and onward do.

Hm, if you've gone through every menu and there's no switch or tick you have to put, then i guess you're stuck with what you got. However a good fan at 40% speed is pretty much silent. And its never bad to have a little more than no air moving through your case.

who cares...

I take it my motherboard doesn't support version 2

Some of the more sophisticated fan controllers like the NZXT Grid+ support custom fan curves etc. However like i said, a good fan at 5V is near silent.

who cares...

Use speedfan. I have my exhaust fans spin up when my GPU gets up to 65 degrees and above :D

It really is an amazing software if you know how to use it! (I recommend it 10/10)

Of course it doesn't, I have seen people with my board getting AI Suite III to work but from what I read it's too much of a pain in the ass for me to bother with considering that AI Suite II works well enough for me to not care I've never heard of anything getting any other version of AIS to work on a board that uses AIS I. That being said there are other options out there like the NZXT grid or software like Speedfan but speedfan is a pain the in ass to use.
