Project PS2

Jack.EXE

NO. BAD.

Leave this thread and go cry in your corner.

I'm using this CPU. No ifs ands or buts about it.

If I hear someone crying pentium K one more time... I'll probs lose my mind.

athlon 860k then? Sorry I didn't know you disliked the pentium ^^

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

Too pricy, too hot.

I love the pentium K, but neither of those are well suited to this build.

Or, you could put linux on it and add moar drive

I'm running fedora 20 anyway.

Anyone got any suggestions for DEs?

My default is cinnamon, but I'd love to hear other's ideas for a media center oriented desktop.

ok, but just know that cpu is likely going to bottleneck the 750

I can make one suggestion is i think you should get a pico psu you can check out the power consumption of my setup here http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/234249-nes-build-1985-2015-30th-anniversary-nes-30/page-8 you would save a ton of space in your case, will help with air flow and heat!

the cpu I have is double the tdp of yours and I still have a decent amount of headroom for my gpu-gtx 750ti

the NES and ps2 are very similar in size

I use a old xbox brick until I can afford a real one ,$50 for a good brick

good choice on waiting until black friday/cyber monday,I decided also to wait it out for my gpu and memory, sucks waiting tho as my build is at the point of needing those parts.

good luck I am rooting for this build and you ! Want to see a nice PSHTPC2 !

I just sold my 5350 Kabini as I needed more CPU grunt but it's a great little thing.

FWIW I ran mine with a GTX 480 @X4 and tbh? it was OK. Played Fifa 14 and The Sims 3 fine.

Area 51 2014. Intel 5820k@ 4.4ghz. MSI X99.16gb Quad channel ram. AMD Fury X.Asus RAIDR.OCZ ARC 480gb SSD. Velociraptor 600gb. 2tb WD.

If it does turn out a GPU doesn't fit you can still go with an APU, you know.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

I am going to be very interested to see how this turns out. Esspecially considering I had the idea of doing one just recently.

But will this thing be powerful enough to work as a decent PS2 emu?

This forum is building a NES and a PS2 PCs, but the man who builds a non raspberry pi in a GameCube, will get  my shiny penny.

Gamecubes aren't even large enough to fit an ITX motherboard from what i can see, without checking the measurements

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

Does ODroid count?

Only if you can get it to run a proper OS (Win, Ubuntu). PIs have gone kinda mainstream in terms of these micro boards, and I am all for a wider more competitive market, to help the field evolve. Also, people have Pis in much more elegant smaller enclosures.

I'll give you some proper criteria for the techies that want to try.

must have a lan port.

Must host a "common" os. Windows, Linux, Android etc.

3 USB Ports.

2.5 in drive.

He who completes this quest shall be showered in metaphorical cookies.
