[Just Released] Microsoft Band w/ Cortana Integration & More

So Microsoft has just announced there new Microsoft Band that works in conjunction with a their new app released to IOS 7.1-8, Window Phone 8.1, and Android 4.3-4.4. The band has 10 sensors to track things such as heart rate, step and general movements, UV exposure, and galvanic skin response which is supposed to track stress. The new band is supposed to last up to 48 hours max and tracks sleep at night.

 

The Microsoft Health Companion app provided for all the phones listed above allow you to customize your band (Themes *Expect a lot of WP Themes*) and also also allows you to see your activity and view notifications and allows it to interact with Cortana if you have a WP.

 

The new Microsoft Band also has third party fitness *apps* such as UP, Jawbone, MapMyFitness, MyFitnessPal, and RunKeeper. There are also guided workouts created by Gold's Gym, Shape, Men's Fitness and Muscle & Fitness. Microsoft will also soon allow there own app (Microsoft Health) to sync to HealthVault to share fitness and medical data collected to your medical provider.

 

You will also be able to buy items at Starbucks with the Microsoft Band with the included app within Microsoft Health, this seems kinda weird but I guess if you want to run 5 miles and then buy a latte, well more power to you.

Personally i think they will sell a few, the ability to buy Starbucks and  workouts created by Gold's Gym, Shape, Men's Fitness and Muscle & Fitness helps entice  the general public. Also multiple platforms is something they had to do to stay competitive since everyone owns as iphone or android phone.

Looks... decentish, I like the design though I tihnk I prefer watch styles than these band types, they scream 13 year old emo to me...

 

But wearable tech is certainly coming along

Microsoft definitely did the right thing by making it available on all platforms. I'm not really into the band design but it does look cool for what it is. It's also good to see that you'll easily get over a day out of it (although I'm skeptical to know what 48 hours maximum really means).
