Yes 600W is enough. Actually, more than enough. A quality 550W PSU is the way to go. You can probably get better efficiency for the same price.

Going for a 750W is not recommended because a 760 SLI will be kinda bottlenecked by that CPU.

i'd suggest you post location and budget in the ''new build and planning'' section of this forum because in the parts you've listed are  A LOT (AKA as only...) bad choices of components...i'm sure the guys out there will get you a MUCH better system for the money you have to spend.

I have a budget of about £850 and these are the best specs ive found, I have seen a pc with pretty much the same specs and the price was £1300

Yes 600W is enough. Actually, more than enough. A quality 550W PSU is the way to go. You can probably get better efficiency for the same price. Going for a 750W is not recommended because a 760 SLI will be kinda bottlenecked by that CPU.

I looked on the corsair website, it said I needed 450w for the specs of my pc. I wanted to be on the safe side so I want to go for a 600w

That leaves you a lot of room to pick a case you like and stuff...8gb of RAM for gaming is PLENTY if you do photo editing or stuff like that and you want 16gb for this purpose you have money left to do so as well.

This PSU is a top notch unit with an active fan. The intel cpu cooler is fine to use with this, again if you want something more quiet you have money for it...i'd suggest a cheap cooler master hyper 212 for quiet operation.

No overclocked FX will compete with this core i5 in gaming and most other tasks even highly overclocked...and BTW the MSI board you picked is garbage you can't safely run the FX 8 core on that board let alone overclocking it...you'd need a much better motherboard for that.

Not true man easily can get a I7, 16 Gb of RAM and for the rest good parts for 1000 pounds. As you can see that build is on only 600 pounds how can 8 Gb more RAM and a upgrade to an I7. If their is money left even can upgrade the GPU.

well for me this is what I would build if I were to go with more rendering and other work related stuff (Priority) with light gaming(least priority) oh and if you use cuda you can actually opt for something higher since it's only 877 pounds if I got it right?. can also change to a amd gpu if you want.

Why the expensive SSD, MX100 are way cheaper and just as good? Also you could just get a 1TB HDD which runs at 7200 RPM. Also he has a budget of 1000 pounds and if he wants to game he can better spend the money on a higher end card.

in that case, you should consider this...this Xeon CPU is the same as the i7-4770 it only lacks the integrated graphics (which you don't need since you'll use a dedicated graphics card) but it's cheaper...it has hyperthreading so it's an i7

no that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of the psu doesn't affect performance it supplies power to the parts

i think he meant ''performance'' in terms of efficiency, in which he is correct PSU's are most efficient while at 50 to 80% load...so he is correct if you pick a 1000W PSu and you only require 325W at full load then the PSU is never operating at it's most efficient...in which case a 550W PSU would be a much better pick. It's important to pick a PSU that match the parts.

crucial mx100 is good but I like the intel 730 more. most of my drives are intel based and a couple of dead ocz and some kingston and of course crucial m4 . 

 

Intel ssd has been good to me. and just like what I said in that post he can mix and match or change some parts and the point of my post is he can get a decent rig for work related stuff with light gaming in mind for less than 1000 pounds which I stand corrected and some of those parts I chose were premium

also a lot of people tend to go with gaming priority in the build but in the build I posted it's the least priority or non at all due to the fact gaming = can hardly net you any money unless you're one of those popular ones with sponsors and stuff.

at least if he were to use his render/work or whatnot capable rig to make some cash he can then build a new awesome beast of a gaming rig.

no biggie bro. so far I still don't know if ts prioritize work or gaming.

 

IMO if it's gaming I'd totally blow on a seagate hdd had some 80gb ide that is still rocking on my old pentium 4 rig . although I tend to use western digital lately kinda always get those on stock whenever I visit shops locally >.< but the reds are damn nice. 

 

@TS for psu I also like fsp aurum models or the brands that take it and slap their own sticker. I'm not sure but the evga 650nexg or something uses it although not entirely sure.

indeed all the G1 and B1 powersupply from EVGA are made by FSP...i owned one last week...was making a very loud coil whining buzz so i had to send it back...

i now own an XFX XTR 550 (made by seasonic it's the same as the G series but fully modular and active fan) and now i couldnt be any happier the PSU is dead silent and i've read and heard very good things about it.
