I actually have a Seagate Barracuda 2tb and it recently started to do this really loud noise as well. I've only had it for aprox 3 months but I'm definitely going to RMA it.

Could possibly be the HDD going bad. Does the hard drive still have the manufacturer warranty?

If you can't convince them, confuse them.

I would download Seatools and test the hard drive and if it fails or gets errors RMA it.

My barracuda was immensely loud, and in my full aluminum lian li case it made really annoying vibrations even with rubber grommets. Dont know how yours is faring, but being hot and very loud doesn't sound normal.

No, that's normal Segate noise. And that is why I prefer the WD Blue.

I'm not sure, the only reason I'm here is to tell that guy that the drive isn't bad.

As the OP said that it was a 1TB drive, I assume that it's a modern one. It shouldn't get really hot, if it is hot then something's wrong.

It should be an executable. Make sure you are downloading the one that says Seatools for Windows.

No, that's probably just the motor. Segate noise sounds more like the read/write arm moving. Let me guess: WD Green?

That sound is coming from a Seagate 2 TB - To be more precise a

Ah, ok. My ST1000DM003 doesn't make that sound, but you're probably fine.

Well it kinda drives me crazy and my plan was to RMA it.. In my opinion a drive shouldn't sound that way :P

Just get some thing rubber strips and place them under and around the drive. Or foam.
