YouTube has added paid subscription channels

TcheMich

A while ago, we heard it would be coming YouTube channels with a paid subscription to watch. Aand I found one today.

The subscription removes all ads, but it dose not specify if that is on just the one channel you pay to watch or of it is all aboard YouTube.

What do you think?

I don't like it, but that might just be the instant I-don't-like-change response. It makes sense from a logistical perspective, plus it means that people who hate ads can support channels they like rather than just using adblock or such.

/DRIVE isn't even a very good channel. It's decent, but some of the hosts are obnoxious. Why on earth would I pay to be annoyed for?

Not even a single channel of interest. Some of those looks like the same random crap you get with a free tv antenna. I'd much rather throw dosh at Hulu Plus or Netflix if I want paid content, at least said content is entertaining. :P

First, I thought the model was going to be you can watch all you want, but you have the option to support them, not you have to pay first and then you can watch...

And then there's this...

Major disadvantage: Region locking. I can't access that channel you gave as an example because "it's not available in my country". Even if I wanted to pay for it, I can't watch it.

The tip jar thing is a good idea. Tipping Youtuber's who make better higher quality videos than these assholes who charge to watch badly made videos. They don't even look anything special from some of the other channels out there.
