Why do we still have usb 2?

Since usb 3 is backwards compatible why are there still usb 2 ports on new motherboards and often cases?

Probably cheaper like some people have already said and also nothing wrong with USB 2.0 though I would like a few more USB 3.0 since I only have two ports on the back of my Z68 board.

I have had, and seen certain devices just not register in a USB 3 port

Usually fixed with a driver update, but there are still a few issues

More expensive, it has a bulky connector, it needs drivers and support to work, and unless you are using an storage/network USB device, the extra bandwidth is completely useless.
