Best Silent Optimized Mid Tower ATX Case

vern021

Let's go straight to the point.

What's the best silent optimized mid tower that you can suggest? I prefer a windowed one but if there's a case that is better I'll choose it.

Currently, I'm thinking of the Bitfenix Ghost(push-pull watercool at top and hotswap/storage at the front) over the Define R4.

I really want a case that is silent optimized but also airflow/watercool friendly.

Some reviews says that the airflow at the top and front are not that good and the R4 isn't that great in silent operation. The only thing that makes me want to get the R4 is due to its window but the Ghost packs a lot of features and is cheaper than the R4. I think the H440 is out of my budget. :(

Windowed case =/= silent optimized, Plexiglass and Polycarbonate usually need to be at least 6mm thick to block sound properly.

The best quiet cases are made by Nanoxia, most of the case designs used by companies nowadays like Fractal and NXZT come from them. They have been on the quiet case market for quite a while.

Their most well known case is the Deep Silence 1, it's around $100 and also has a windowed version, but as mentioned above it doesn't make a sound proof box.

So the ghost is more silent optimized than the R4? (the Ghost doesn't have a windowed panel)

The type of sound dampening material, design of the internals, the thickness of the metals and plastics used also make a difference. Blocking the front fans with a clean panel is not all that is to it.

Take a look at the Deep Silence 1, it has even more features than mainstream cases do, proper fan controllers, modular tool-less drive cages, watercooling support, USB 2 and 3, recessed reset button, optional extra ventilation and fan mounts, sound dampening foam everywhere, anti vibration mounts for fans and drives, fan filters, tall and short feet, included accessories and more.

Ok I'll take a look at the cases and hopefully my local retailer has one. :D
