The Utterly Imbalanced CaseLabs TX10-D build(s)!

VSG

:o I forgot about the achievements that'll be fun. Overclock to over 9000 haha I'll have to look at downloading it on steam to see what ones you get.

Sorry I didn't quote on my phone

No need to be sorry, I am following this thread as it is. Guru3D wrote up a pretty misinformed article about EVGA copying codes from Unwinder and Afterburner for the new Precision-X. So if you guys have read that, just know that it is pretty bad journalism. I am not saying this because EVGA is helping out with this build, I have given them criticism before and will do if deserving.

Yeah @VSG I considered painting the blades, but I think painting them yellow would be WAY to much yellow,  I was thinking about painting them glossy black or matte black, but I dunno.

I know but forum rules and all that. Let's face it every company has to be criticised in some way because nothing is ever perfect. I'm sure there is an SDK version of Afterburner... So if there is they are allowed to sort of copy at least because they've opened to code for others.

I'd say matte black.

lol serves you right for not having acclimatized yourself after being used to the silence from them GTs. When I was just building in the 900D, I was coming from using a gaming laptop so the 290x blower fans (two of them) even at 100% wasn't exactly shocking. I bet if I hear them again now I will be stunned too.

Pro-tip: Get the fujipoly extreme/ultra extreme thermal pads. Atleast for the VRMs.

FCPU and PPC. I think only FCPU has the ultra extreme pads but they are way too expensive for my taste and are hard to re-use. I am happy with my regular extreme pads. I got a quarter sheet in 0.5 and 1mm thickness from PPC I think- not sure.

For the waterblocks, won't do much for the stock cooler since the core is the heat monster there.

Guys on OCN reported 8-10 C lower VRM temps compared to the stock EK pads that they got. To be fair, the stock EK pads aren't very good lol.

I never got to watercooling the 290x cards other than applying the block on them. Sold them before I got the loop together.

@VSG can you help me?

Can you put the CPU in your board, put the cpu block on, insert your ram, then measure from the CPU block, to 1/2" above the ram, and give me the measurements?

One of my tubing runs is going to have to be CPU-> Extender -> 90 degree adapter -> hardline fitting ->tubing OVER the top of the ram, into a 90 degree bend to the top radiator, so I'm trying to figure out what size of extender I need to buy to make it clear the ram.

No problem, everything is already in there to be measured as seen below. I will get you that number soon.

I will get you that entire height, but I also have plenty of extenders and 90 degree rotary fittings if you want me to check for you. Never mind those power cables of course, they were there for a test. Not in there now- they need to be laced!

Also @VSG, do you think I can use an EK backplate with a heatkiller 290x block?

The block looks awesome IMO, and will match my platinums + the 380i, but the heatkiller backplates are kinda "meh" IMO.

 b82772da8a.jpg

If it does fit, I may have to use different screws, because the ones that come w/ the heatkiller block / backplate are ugly and the wrong color.  Wonder if I could use the screws EK includes with the heatkiller block?

Unless the holes are the same, I wouldn't bet on it. Best way would be to get photos of the back of the block and compare with EK.

Do you think FCPU could test-fit it if I emailed em?  I've never dealt with their support before, unsure how it'll be.

it looks like the block will fit with the backplate, but that leaves the issue of the screws.  They're Allan head screws that stick up really far off the backplate, which I don't like whatsoever, I wonder if I could use EK screws from an ek block, or if the threads wouldn't line up..

Call them up and ask for Bucky. He may do it for you, but then again they may have to open up new fittings so I can't guarantee it.

Well because you asked and LTT was the first to 10k views (over 11k now!), I am very happy to announce my 3rd sponsor: FrozenQ PC Mods

logo.jpg

Some of you may have recognized the reservoir I was using so far in these pictures:

DSDyFwll.jpg

d7iw9xOl.jpg

These were great after I went through with customer support regarding a few things that arrived broken. The issue with these reservoirs was that the end caps were compressed on and the helices inside could be rotated. So a lazy delivery person could end up creating some serious issues as it was in my case. Also, leaks were a risk with the compression type caps. So after a lot of feedback they went back to square one and redesigned everything- new equipment, new streamlined manufacturing and this is the new result:

FrozenQ Liquid Fusion Reaction Cylinder Reservoir

EtTVED4l.png

hyFnMFQl.png

The 250mm version is already available for pre-order now, with the 150mm and 400mm versions coming out soon. They can make a custom length reservoir also. Do check out the various color options available for the end caps, helices and cathode (way too many to list out here).

FrozenQ Meteor Light Reaction Cylinder Reservoir

gQGJjHdl.png

1u51Dc9l.png

K0STQ74l.png

Here the accent rails will be available in Blue, Green, Red and Orange as stock options with any color of your choice available as custom order.

So I will be getting 2-3 of the new LF Reaction reservoirs I think. I will likely sell the existing 400mm reservoirs I have since they are a bit too long for the motherboard compartment with the pumps in there as well.

Thanks, hopefully that isn't the last such announcement either!

Now I just need to decide what type of reservoir and what colors- helices/accent rails, end caps, coolant etc. Side 2 is mostly fixed already but Side 1 depends on the motherboard more or less. If you guys (or anyone in this forum) have questions about these products then just let me know and I will get you the answers. They have a lot more products than just these- CPU blocks, bay reservoirs, coolant and even their own acrylic cases!
