Better Animations/Transitions for Windows 8.1?

PutuLips

Hiya.

So I don't enjoy looking at Windows' UI animations. I think they look "so 2009" and quite choppy/not really in a consistent style. (Talking about Desktop -- I can't stand Metro/Modern)

I like the look and feel of Mac OSX/Macericks transitions -- they are very smooth. Is there any way to get animations similar to the ones in Mac OSX in Windows?

Also, is there any way to add motion blur (like vector motion blur) to the user interface/mouse cursor? That's something I really like (most people hate with a passion), but it makes things look better in my opinion.

Thanks

I use a Lenovo T440: i5 4300U, 8GB RAM, 128GB Samsung 840 Evo, 14" 900p display and an external 23" 1080p passive 3D monitor. Extended 6-cell battery with internal 3-cell. Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (I only use open-source software -- haven't paid for a single program yet).

I would have to agree with you. Max OSX has the sexiest and smoothest animations when minimizing windows.

What's the point? Why do you even fancy need animations? They won't make you work faster ;P

They won't make you work faster, but I think they make things a "smoother" working experience.

For me nothing can top XP regarding desktop speed. I know, it didn't have fancy animations so it was quick but I tried to disable all animations on win 7 and it still felt like it had some minor lag when opening windows and doing stuff.

I am using my system for productivity. I don't want to do pop-corn and watch a movie every time I minimize a window, or close one.

Windows animations as designed to be light for low powered computers, as Windows 8 runs on low-powered tablets.

MacOS is designed for a specific computer configurations. So, they know how to push the animation without really affecting battery life on the lowest end system they expect to run on.

Windows doesn't have that luxury. And if Microsoft decides to ignore this... you have the Vista effect, where the OS was "too ahead of it's time" for the great majority of computers at the time.

True, but it mostly depends on the PC specs. For example my desktop computer completely crushes Windows 8.1, while my tablet sometimes lags.

@PutuLips

If you go to Control Panel > System > Advanced System Properties (on left menu) > Advanced Tab > Performance (Settings), you can enable and disable animations that you'd like

windows 7 is also very smooth in the desktop unlike windows 8, they added stupid, ugly buffer.
