Sennheiser Momentum on-ear Vs over-ear

Go to solution Solved by LinusTech,

The over ear is better on paper, but I personally find the on-ears sound better for me because they seal a LOT better for me.

Conveniently they are also cheaper.

I own a pair of Sennheiser Momentum over-ear, I really happy with it. I plan to buy a Sennheiser Momentum on-ear, but I don't know if it worth the money.

So this is my question, how is the on-ear perform? Is there any huge difference between the two in term of sound quality?

Thanks

Although I can't speak from personal experience, I don't expect there to be a big difference in sound quality. Maybe you'll get a more immersive sound from the over-ears since they might help completely block out noise, but it's probably just a comfort thing really. Personally I haven't tried an on-ear headphone that's as comfortable as over-ear, but sadly I haven't tried one as high-end as these.

Hoping I have my headphone terms correct, here..

Circumaural/over-ear are better for noise isolation, good for keeping the sound in and out.

Sound quality should be relatively similar, pretty sure on-ear are just typically better for wearing around. More for mobility and weight savings, and have the cons previously stated.

I'm not 100% sure as it really depends on how the headphones are made, and I'm only just caring about audio peripherals so I don't know much at all. I've owned 2 pairs of headphones and neither are great :). Praying that none of this is wrong, but correct me if it is.

I think the over ear is better in sound quality but I'm not entirely sure.

Why do you want to buy the on ears? The over ears are definitely better and there isn't a big enough difference between them to warrant having both.

Well I have the opposite problem...half the over ears are too small for me.
