IPhoene X Face ID not working

I have a client whos face id isnt working even tho we have updated the phone restarted and reset the phone. All it is showing is that "face id is not available, try setting up face id later." Does anyone have any idea on what to do?

Did you update the phone to iOS 12 and did the problem occur after updating to iOS 12?

The problem accured after im assuming her phone was brought to me after it was updated.
