Hi

i got a LG 25UM58 ultra wide monitor however is having to run it through a display port to hdmi adapter as my htc vive has to use the hdmi port. Any ideas why the monitor will only stay in 1080p and not 2560 x 1080. Running a 1060 gtx 3gb windforce oc.

similar to this or is it the adapter.

thanks

You are using a DP to HDMI Type 1 passive adapter, which is limited to 1920×1080 @ 60 Hz. You need a Type 2 adapter for higher resolutions.

Might just be how the HDMI interface interacts with display port. If it were the other way around (display port cable adapted to HDMI) you'd probably be fine. I'd say just get a display port cable. I'm assuming you went into NVIDIA control panel?

Oh ok so what do I need to get I have got a display port to hdmi cable but don’t think that worked at all on the monitor. Yea been into the control panel tried doing custom resolution but it didn’t fill the screen. Might try the cable again with it. Would a splitter or switch affect it tried with and without but didn’t make a difference.

Sure, but you don't need an active adapter. Just a passive adapter as long as it's advertised with "4K" support.

Oh I see ok I’ll have a look are they a similar price then? Also does it affect it by using a switch or splitter after the display port as well as I stream using a 2 pc setup sometimes and as my vive uses the only hdmi on my gpu I have to use display port.

How does it work with a splitter or switch is it best to have this rated to 4K for it work properly too.
