Need high-end custom laptop recommendation on price, specs and availability - Clevo or similar

I mean, based on your recommendation, I should customize a major brand laptop instead of Clevo? I went to HIDevolution to get the same specs (like PCSpecialist) and I get significantly higher price without even mentioning VAT with extra 2k.EUR at least. I stopped customizing once I saw that.

Only customize Clevo P750, P775 and P870 via HID/Obsidian/any other reseller that provides delid. The rest you can buy wherever you want

I need assistance on figuring out if I should buy this build or to wait a couple of months for the price drop.

I was also thinking of excluding VAT by using my family's company VAT number to exempt this laptop from taxation.

I personally think it is overpriced and I'm thinking to wait, despite being able to buy it with no problems.

9900k in a laptop is bullshit. A laptop of this thickness will not be able to dissipate its heat and will drop a lot of frequency. the locked 8700 is as far as being reasonable goes.

What if I use a cooling pad? Also, what should I get instead and where?

forget cooling pad, even the 8700k requires a full watercooler to get the cooling done. There's only so much the small heatsinks can do even with as much airflow as you can push. That's why the 8700 is as good as a processor I'd put in that chassis.

Other options will be 1080 SLI and 8750H or 8850H laptops, even 8950HK ones with watercooling. Acer Predator 21X, Asus GX800 etc.

Ok, thanks! Is it possible to get 8950 HK without watercooling? Is there something similar? Also, which custom laptop would you recommend?

If you really wanted to get P775 or P870, ONLY buy from resellers like HIDevolution and ObsidianPC since they provide delid+LM and other modding (Obsidian has heatsink lapping) which will not throttle the CPU

Thanks, but I cannot buy from USA since it guarantees an import tax of 19% which is huge. I'm in Europe, Cyprus.

Thank you for the recommendation.

EDIT: Based on the HIDevolution recommendation, I, if I correctly understand you, should get a pre-built laptop like MSI, ASUS and etc?

What are the 3x important key aspects about the laptop?

How long do you plan own it for?

Why a laptop and not a desktop?

Most important aspects: Graphics card (at least GTX 1080 and would love SLI), CPU (high-end), M.2 SSD (Samsung PRO (at least 1 TB)) and at least 32 GB RAM (preferrably 64 GB).

I plan to own until it becomes obsolete to use for gaming (long-term investment basically).

A laptop because I need mobility and not to be plugged into a wall. I like to travel, but not compromise for weaker components.

1st, my two cents... Unless its 100% needed, I would avoid buying a laptop for gaming. Small for factor, lots of heat, it's loud, hard ware on components due to gaming, leads to shorter life span and unless your mobile 60-80% of the time you are paying significantly more for a laptop that wont last as long.

Things to consider:
- GTX 1080 is overkill for 1920x1080, let along SLI

- CPU, get a CPU that is more for gaming ratherthen what is just top end. EG, 4 core rather then 8+

- 32gb ran is overkill for gaming 16gb will be fine, it will be a waste of money to get 32 or 64

- 1TB M.2 SSD will be fine. Get an external HHD for extra storage

- Don't waste money on stuff you don't need, like a printer

Did you have a budget??

Only customize Clevo P750, P775 and P870 via HID/Obsidian/any other reseller that provides delid. The rest you can buy wherever you want
