Best valued gaming cpu?

Hey guys,

I was looking for a new platform (currently i7-3770k). Since I would not change this platform for 5 or so year I'd like your guys opinion on this: which of platforms - cpus is best to stick with? AMD or Intel?

I checked the prices and so mostly recomended AMD Ryzen 7 2700x (almost 2x cheaper than i7-8700k!!!) What is your opinion on this. Should I swap to AMD or should i bite the bullet and stick with Intel?

AMD is better value now. Intel prices have gone way up because of their CPU shortages, so their prices are too high in my opinion. AMD is also not a BAD CPU maker, so not like you're making a huge sacrifice to use their products.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

AM4 is said to be good for another 2 years (to 2020, yes measured in time) and Intel's LGA 1151v2 good for 2 generations (which has both been released). However considering how the 9900k is the most kickass CPU for games you can buy and it should stay relevant longer than 3770k did, I'd say LGA1151v2 is better if you swim in money, AM4 if you don't.

the exact CPU though depends on your budget and use case

r5 2600 but i'd just overclock your 3770k.

if you do decide to upgrade to a 2600/2700, games that use 6/8 cores will see a great improvement, and i'd suggest getting 3200/3600 b-die ram to maximize the ryzen cpu to see more improvements over the 3770k in games that use less cores than 6/8. So whether the upgrade is worth it depends on the game you play, overwatch, mhw, acu/aco, sotr will see improvements for example.

I would say go down maybe to like a Ryzen 5 and use the extra money on upgrading some other component in your system or go have a nice lunch. The higher you go with AM4 the more cores you get, you don't really get a massive IPC bump.

Well sometimes I do some mini testing or projects with virtualization so extra cores would be a nice touch. Also looking at my country market difference between ryzen 5 and 7 is like 100eu. Since my i7-3770K is already overclocked in games it performs amazingly but when I try to multitask a bit (if I do expiriment in background while playing a game) it starts to chop the frames.

I play games on 1080p and currently have RX480 8g card so gaming performance is good, but since I see that cpu started to feel a bit out of date I decided to do an upgrade soon.

Also my dream is to have as silent of computer as possible so temperatures are also a factor in my choice :)

I kind of want to go Ryzen route but seeing that AMD cpus and gpus gave worse optimization than Intel/Nvidia I kind of don't want to make a mistake and after few month regret that....
