Boot Drive, between 2 alternatives.

Gonna keep this short, my trusty e-commerce has a sale on 2 high end known SSDs and I need a boot drive (sata3 2.5) for a laptop.

 

I am between the Samsung 860 EVO 500gb or the Intel 545s 512gb.

 

I've been reading the usual reviews here and there and I thought why not check out what the usual storage enthusiasts have to say, price wise the Intel is marginally more expensive but nothing that should weight the decision.

Get the cheaper, the samsung is a newer better drive, but you won't notice the difference.

Samsung gets my vote.

 

Performance will generally be within margin of error. 

Samsung makes all of the components for their drive and I believe that Intel does as well. 

 

Biggest weigh-in for me is the warranty time; I think both are 3 years. 

 

I'd choose Samsung just because of the few dollars you'll save.

My vote is for Samsung. Mainly because Intel SSDs have burned me twice. No losses with Samsung yet.

My vote is for the Samsung. Samsung SSDs have an excellent reputation.

It's ironic considering across the board the idea is that the Evo 860 performs ever so slightly ahead but Intel's strongest is the reliability and endurance.
