Best NON-gaming 1440p monitor?

ProRules

Hey folks!

What's the best monitor when it comes to 1440P 27 inch monitors?

I don't really game much, maybe sometimes and even then its strategy games.

Looking for a general use and especially movies monitor.

Which monitor has the best looking panel and colors? I currently have Dell U2414H and am willing to upgrade to a better resolution 27 inch monitor.

Only thing is that it should have a VESA.

Budget matters but i am not locked on a specific price, sure lets not go too crazy, maybe around 500 bucks and below (less is a big plus).

DELL U2717D? Seems like an incremental upgrade over the U2715H.

if you have a 500$ budget skip right to 4k. You don't game so no need for high refresh rates so a 4k 60hz monitor will be able to actually run 4k content at it's native res rather than a 2k monitor which is already sorta niche in the media world.

no , it's just a 4k monitor , 2d imagery. so long as the gpu supports the resolution it'll run fine.

Okay thanks for the insight, I will strongly consider getting 4K. Any good monitor you recommend regarding to the panel itself?

Is it true LG are better than the rest in regards to the colors and panel?

The DELL U2718Q is the 4K variant. As for 4K itself, the difference at 27" screen size isn't that big as when you go from 1080p to 1440p at that size, and you need to have a GPU that can support it well-enough ^_^ Up to you IMO.

Your profile pic is great ?))

And back to the topic, it also seems like 4K are a bit too expensive unless its a TN panel.

I guess we'll see what's up at the 23th of November (black friday).

I personally love my Asus PB258Q 25" 60Hz IPS displays, I think there's a 27" variant but its color accuracy and viewing angles are phenomenal.

I meant that when you have 27" monitors and one is 1080p,  one 1440p and one 4K, at that screen size the difference between 1080p and 1440p is huge, literally huge in terms of quality and image sharpness. However, going from 1440p to 4K at that screen size doesn't bring a very big difference image quality-wise. Of course it's better, but not as much better to justify the cost, because of that, 1440p is the sweet spot for 27" monitors.

Well yeah technically 2K is 1080Px2 and 4k is 1080Px4.

But i also think that on a fairly small screen like 27 inch, a jump from 1080p to 2k, is much more "noticeable" by our perception compared to a jump from 2k to 4k.

A discussion is not always an argument ^_^ And it's more than welcome. Well, my statement is the general consensus about this matter, for instance Steve from Hardware Unboxed says exactly the same thing, he actually did it in his latest Q&A video.

I only disagree with you about not talking further about it, we're not "fighting" here, we're discussing about this because that's what forums are for! ;)
