So after watching TechLinked I started wondering about them as they sounded familiar...

Went to their site which doesn't state where they are made anywhere (Odd, but ok), so I looked at Reddit... Obviously there is hate, tried to find out why reading threw posts... Nothing (can't sleep so...)

Found this video... Which got me looking into my eBay history...

(along with this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=galzSeZTT1Q, which is a review about their product)

So after a little searching I found a few that look awfully similar...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Top-Brand-Automatic-Mechanical-Watches-Men-Watch-Sport-Business-Wristwatch-Male/113236212208

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2018-New-Men-s-DOM-Male-Automatic-Mechanical-Sport-Watch-Men-Casual-Watches-Men-s-Wristwatch/32869993569.html

I bought this watch back in 2016 the glass broke after falling onto concrete the wrong way in the basement and broke the day hand off. The watch it self mostly functions fine (and actually keeps accurate time) since then but I don't wear it.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Luxury-JARAGAR-Skeleton-Calendar-Automatic-Mechanical-Leather-Mens-Wrist-Watch/381706414288

Not saying this is likely the case however it seems to be pointing towards it... I also can't blame LMG staff since this is a tech company after all, and very unlikely to know a good watch from a bad one, that said I've not owned one from them nor do I have the intention too due to too many unanswered questions from their site alone. If they are truly relabeled mass produced items the 15% off given is actually the cost of the watch +$5 for a nice box likely.

After looking at the wayback machine I found out why they sounded familiar...

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1165381133/vincero-mechanical-timepieces-with-italian-marble

Further oddness: https://web.archive.org/web/20160320152713/http://www.hugedomains.com/domain_profile.cfm?d=vincerowatches&e=com (seems to have stayed this way till late 2017 to just August 2018)

So... Yea... @CPotter

2AM still up.... uh....

Thanks for bringing this up, we did see this before working with Vincero but from our experiences with the product themselves, they seem pretty solid given the price. I know they're not a sponsor of our channel but I own a MVMT Watch and honestly, its one of the best watches that I use on an almost daily basis (Better than Boss, and some Swiss watches that I own).

However, if ANYONE purchases a Vincero watch and experiences a problem first hand, please let me or @JonoT know. We do take these things seriously and are constantly monitoring our relationships with brand partners to ensure they're a good fit for all of us.

Hope you ended up getting some sleep! :)

I wasn't going to tag you in it, however once I saw the site up for sale it came across as a red flag. Don't get me wrong even the cheap ones ($30 one I have) keeps time accurately, so long as you don't drop it or test the water resistance rating deliberately. I personally would go for Seiko or Citizen before buying one from Vincero, but that's me.

Like I said I could be completely wrong with these guys, but I rather be safe than sorry by letting you guys know. The reason why I knew about them is because I think the campaign on KS was around the same time as my Lomography Petzval lens was having issues in shipping or Bear Simulators was active.

Yea got some shortly after posting it :)

Always thought that watch companies such as vincero had good looking watches, but i have always prefered mechanical watches.

And since the company is pretty young, i dont exactly know how long these watches can last. I have a old seiko sportsmatic 5 which have basicly lasted for decades.

So i guess speculation and questions about companies such as vincero is warrented in a way.

This shouldn't surprise you at all. Making watches isn't really an art, unless you're one of the big companies that's actually investing money into movements.

You can simply go to a supplier in China, and they will provide you with thick books full of movements, arms, cases, backings, etc.

You pick the ones you want, they assemble it with your name on it, and tada. Watches.

Now, some people do design their own cases, but it's not that common for small companies like these.

Shouldn't be too much of an issue, they probably use pretty common movements. Seiko 5's are pretty cheap and likely use a comparable movement, possibly the same one depending on the Vincero watch.

I'm honestly surprised they do enough business to be sustainable, especially in this day where people aren't that likely to wear a watch. You have a phone that'll tell the time.

I generally prefer the micro companies. Their designs are a little more bold.

Should point out anyone competent with CAD could create their own cases and china will make them for a little more, so it could still be done by a 1 man show.

I would actually suggest they would use better internal components, maybe not the best out there but better. So instead of a 50 cent movement they might use a $2 movement which is still dirt cheap.

Lets see, watch costs $15 from china (assuming it's random cheap catalog parts), $5 box to put it in (can be assembled on site), $15 for shipping avg to clients. $35USD per item (automatic movements cost a little more to make), so you will make $120 per item less customs inbound lets say the $20 to make things easy. Assuming you pay $10,000 for renting a place as a HQ employ 10 people 40 hr/week @$15 all in (including your obligations for taxes) plus you (let say you want $100K a year after 50% tax, so 200K).

That gives about a 600K overhead. with a $100 per item as a bare minimum they would need to sell 6,000 units for a break even assuming those numbers are not lower, like the owners take is 100K less tax... I know for a fact there is more than enough people willing to buy items at such prices that they likely have made almost half of that by now.

In the USA if every city (over 100K Pop, rounding it down to 250) had 20 buyers a year (that's 0.0002% of 100K Pop) that puts it to at least 5,000 watches alone a year.

Yeah, most people wear them for the fashion sake, i wear them because i got used to wearing a watch before i had a cellphone and i generally tend to prefer the analog ones with date complications, looking at the wrist to tell time and date is second nature at this point.

My favorite brand is probably Panerai, to me their designs are timeless, right after Rolex (in special the Oyster and Oysterquartz).

Very true, and many often are. You'll see them pop up on Kickstarter every so often. Most are just in it to make a quick buck and then move on to something else.

I thought about doing it for a bit, but with pens. Just don't have the free time and am beginning to lose the desire.

$5 for a box is drastically overpaying ;) But yes, you get the idea. Though, there's no need to pay staff. You could just get a fulfillment company to handle that. You wouldn't really pay taxes if you did it correctly either, as your write offs should balance pretty close to what you'd owe. Depending on sales volume, of course.

I mostly look at diver watches, so they're more catered to that.

  • Deep Blue
  • Armida
  • Borealis
  • Squale
  • Nethuns
  • Geckota
  • Helson

If you look at them, you can sort of see similarities between them component wise. One of the reasons I wanted to make my own line. I could finally get a diver exactly like what I want. No one makes one with a nice yellow face like a Breitling ?

Not gonna lie, that is partly why I wear them too. It has to look good with what I wear. Which is partly why I have a few.

Paneri's are definitely beautiful. Not sure I'd ever own a watch that expensive, but I have some pricier ones like a Marathon GSAR (watch band still smells like Cadbury mini eggs, I love it) and I just bought a Mondaine Evo to use as a dress watch.
