Razer Blade 2015 Random Complete Shutdown.

Deathmore502

Hi everyone, I'd just like to say thanks for all your help first and foremost. So I have a 2015 Razer Blade that seems to completely randomly do a full shutdown. I mean like no warning everything including screen and fans shuts off out of nowhere. It's not thermal as I've already repasted it and I monitored the heat during one of the shutdowns. The original power supply is definitely broken because I replaced it and as long as its plugged into the new power supply I can game for hours. If its on battery It will power off eventually no matter what I'm doing. Its basically an instant shutdown if I try to game on battery. Now the strange thing is when I turn it back on it usually starts right up as if nothing ever happened. Sometime it'll do windows recovery but its literally never given me any problems beyond that... I'd really like to fix this because obviously its not good for the machine, and I'd really like to be able to use it without it being plugged in again. Any help would be greatly apricated.

You need to replace the battery, the older Razer Blade Pro's did the same thing. It's because your battery can no longer supply the instantaneous current that you're laptop sometimes draws when under a load like gaming.

Desktop: i9 11900k, 32GB DDR4, 4060 Ti 8GB 🙂

Your battery is dying and can't supply enough current to power the computer while gaming.

You've already had to replace the power adapter? Wow is there anything from Razer that doesn't break?

So in their defense that was totally my fault. As embarrassing as it is my cat chewed on the cord.

I will say this, they have some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. For an overheating issue I was having when I first got the laptop(hence the repaste) they wanted 30 days and for me to pay for shipping (over $50) while it was still under warranty. Then when I first discovered the power supply issue they said they couldn't even sell me a replacement and I'd have to send the laptop in for repairs in order for them to determine it was the power brick? After about an hour of arguing they said they could sell me one of the newer 165w bricks for $150 but they don't recommend it for my laptop. Eventually I just bought a used one on ebay and it fixed most of my problems.

Unfortunately I do think they make the nicest laptop you can buy and even plan on buying the new phone. Just more price of admission I guess. I really wish some other company would get on the all metal gaming laptop train.
