Anyone used them yet?? 

How do they perform as a boot drive? 

Or a movie storage drive? 

Thinking of using them as home theater pc drives

Use high capacity HDDs for a movie storage/home theatre drive. Movies take up far too much space to be economical to store on SSDs , and they won't receive any benefit of the faster speeds.

I have two BX500s in use at the moment, soon to be 3. Great budget SSDs for sure, and probably better than the Kingston A400 anyway. But for media storage, just use mechanical drives. You need space more than you need speed.

Any SSD will do great as a boot drive, any HDD* will suck at being a boot drive :P 

 

 

* any SATA 5400-7200RPM. 15K SAS is pretty zippy.

So my wd green will do fine

If it's a WD green SSD, yes. If it's a WD green HDD, no. Unless you mean for data.
