iPhones for denuncuation

In an unexpected twist of events, the Dagestan's Ministry of Communications announced a contest to search and report extremist materials, as to popularize it's anti-terrorism hotline, especially among the younger crowd.

Residents of the republic need to find suitable posts on the Internet or social networks and send links to the Hotline address.

After that, the post will be checked by experts of the National Center for Information Counter-Terrorism and will transmit the information to the prosecutor's office, the FSB or the Ministry of Internal Affairs, depending on the results of the check.

Prizes are provided for the “most active users”: the first place is iPhone SE 32 Gb, the second is a Xiaomi Redmi 5 32Gb with the third being a Xiaomi Redmi 4A. Adding to the ridiculousness and unprofessionalism, the name of the Chinese company is written with an error.

Personally, I think it's ridiculous. I get the idea of a hotline, and I even though I dislike censorship I can understand trying to police and keep track of extremism content, but this is really not the right way to go about it. You're teaching young people to accuse and fulminate for profit.

At least the inquisition offered a %age of the accused's valuables. Now you're supposed to do it for a phone. /s

Isn't this just Russian internal affairs/politics?

This "contest" isn't so surprising if you look into the history and recent events of Dagestan

I suppose you might be right. I was thinking more about the censorship/iphone aspect of it, but realistically it's only a small part of the main article.
