Unable to Find SSD and Cloning to It

Mandrew

So I just got a 500GB 860 EVO SSD and want to move the OS and some programs on to it. The only issue is that I currently have 950GB of files on my hard drive currently. I cant uninstall and reinstall programs, because my internet is garbage and would take a few weeks to redownload everything. Would I be able to transfer like 600GB of files to a hard drive from another computer(that has windows on it), then clone my current drive with OS, then put all the files back on my old hard drive? Or is their a faster/easier way to do it?

Second question is that my SSD shows up in the BIOS, but I cant chose boot priority for it, and then I also cant see it in file explorer. I went to the disk management tool and nothing popped up for me to initialize the dive either. Device manager is also showing only the hard drive as well. Any other ways I could try to access it?

You can try samsung migration software but it didn't work on my 970 so I don't know how well it would be.

When I got my 970 I spent a few days trying every program I could to clone and what I found is that it's hard and not worth it.

CPU:R9 3900x@4.5Ghz RAM:Vengeance Pro LPX @ 3200mhz MOBO:MSI Tomohawk B350 GPU:PNY GTX 1080 XLR8

Use Samsung Migration Software 3 times now, every time was perfection. Recommend it all day, and 10x times on Saturday night if it brings the beer.

What are the 900GB+ of files you have?  If it's a library of games, most can be copied and just reinstall the main program to refind them (Ie. Steam).

two varying answers here, also I did some digging on my hard drive and found some old videos that i didnt need, so now my hard drive only has 430GB of data on it, so hopefully i can just clone the whole thing? Or do what @Lordclouds suggested

If it all fits on the new SSD, just Clone it.   It doesn't hurt the old drive, even if for some reason it doesn't work.  Let us know.
