How do i start a Tech Channel?

hey guys.. how would i go about starting a tech channel (like Linus or something similar) without a lot of money.. i just need to know where to start, once i start, i can lead myself from there.. but how do i start one (not a channel, i already know how) i mean how do i start a channel that does tech when i don’t have much money?

It's rather straightforward.

Start with what you have, or what you can get with what you have.

Determine a direction(s) you'd like to take your content, and develop a platform around it.

Talking about events in the tech world, reviewing cheap things or things you get for yourself without the channel as an influence, and reviewing builds online on PCPartPicker and especially debunking Craigslist or facebook PC deals are actually really appealing pieces of content that require little to no money.

Film using your phone, edit using "free adobe trial" and learn from there. No ones is going to tell you actual videos ideas, this is up to you. IMO, make a video something you're passionable about or what interest you. No ones is going to watch a video where person is video is half dead or not interested themselves.

as others have said, review something, do you have a cell phone? make a video about it, how long the battery lasts, the camera it has whatever you like or dislike about it, you say you have a laptop, you can do the same for that, do you have a PC? do you like it? is it a pre-built? would you recommend it to others?

Simple answer: you don't. 

 

I highly recommend you look into the backgrounds of the most famous tech youtubers. None of them got started with 'very little.'  They found ways to get stuff (linus was at NCIX, MKBHD bought it, etc).

I'm not trying to be an unhelpful asshole. I just think if you think you're going to walk into the kind of tech success like Linus or others without spending significant capital... you're incredibly naive. Linus worked at NCIX and made unboxing videos for them. He was 'famous' well before he made LinusTechTips. Without NCIX, he'd be another random bleach blonde hair guy riding on a motorbike, trying to impress girls with his watercooling rig. 

 

If you want to do what he did, maybe you can work a deal with Best Buy or something to showcase their tech. IDK. But the reality is that I can go to youtube right now and find a bunch of 'tech YTers' that have <1000 total views - and they've been on it as long as Linus. 

 

If you're going to do it, you have to accept that it will be hard at first. Review products you own (tech or not) and post it on YT. Find communities that are interested and insert them as it contributes to the conversation. Get your friends and family to watch a few minutes and give you feedback (and clicks - because you need YT's secret algorithm to like your videos).

 

For every tech youtuber you can name, there is probably a story with them getting a 'head start' on the competition. None of them are really randoms that started within the last 5 years. Hell. Linus was a watercooling nut before he even started NCIX videos.

i already have a yt channel with 25 subs, i understand it is hard to grow at first. however, i have friends who have 2k subs, 6.8k subs, and some with over 100k.. all i need to do is work with them if i start it because they *might* help me out

You need a half decent camera.

You need video editing software.

You need a decent pc to edit.

You need to make silly goofy faces and use them as your video thumbnail.

Profit like Linus is

 

 

Oops almost forgot, you can always add a voice that says "Please Subscribe to my channel because I am desperate for more subscriptions" also dont forget to say " Thumbs up to my videos because I am desperarte"

 

 

This is what Linus does, and he is super rich!

 

The conundrum is you have no money, so you cant buy technology, its a catch 22.

However there are a million talking heads out there it YT land.

Heck there are even a million non english speakers who type in translated english on video out there in YT land.

 

What would be cool is to be able to get a media pass, so incorporation is the key to that game!

Plus you'd want to isolate the risk, its cheap insurance really. I have incorporated lots of companies for various reasons.

well... it’s OKAY for editing... but i can edit on my ps4 as well

 

pfft.. the challenge will be making me NOT make a silly face
