So as you can see by the title im looking for an mmorpg to play. The cheaper the better.. and i dont want to pay monthly just to play a game. I know WoW is good but its monthly subscription and i cant do that. I just want a game where i can show my skill and actually grind to get up to top level.

BDO is great if you can run it, there is also guildwars 2 but the graphics are very dated. BDO is cheap, and often on sale and GW2 is free iirc

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Guild Wars 2 get my vote. Base game is free but i recommend to get Heart Of Thorn expansion or Path Of Fire (if you want that unbelievably fluid mount)

Tera is supposedly good.

Tera has a fantastic combat system but stay away from it if you don't enjoy immersion breaking elements.

You can have an elf with two swords, black armor and cape, riding a red dragon or a black battle wolf and next to you will be another guy's character in speedo with a surfboard on his back, riding a duck with rainbow afro and sunglasses or a toy police car.

Getting to top level isn't very time consuming but unlike MMO's like BDO, there is a huge difference between someone on 64 and someone on 65 level (we are talking 1000% difference here since all endgame gear and skills are max level only). In the end, that immersion break was too much for me (also, I wanted to focus on single player games for a while).

It's beautiful albeit badly optimized - my advice is, if you are going to play it, enjoy leveling as much as you can because once you hit 65 the real grind will begin. Also, the world is vast but you will probably never revisit some of the better looking locations because instance-based dungeon system with teleports doesn't support world exploration.

Yup, that's world of Warcraft for ya.

All MMO seem to be that way nowadays haha.

I thought only Koreans are like that ?

Well, I think there are some that were kinda saved - BDO is (I think) not as bad in terms of immersion breaking, FFXIV has it's own style and everything seems to be consistent and ESO as well (though I didn't do any research in that department).

Anyway, I'm kinda keeping track of Ashes of Creation progress, seems to be typical high fantasy setting without anything weird (I think lack of that kind of weirdness was one of the promises the devs made).

Another vote for Guild Wars 2, or if you want way more depth and complexity, consider looking into the first Guild Wars (it's on maintenance mode, but it has received some love this year and just doesn't seem to be going away. I'll be giving it a try the next time it's on sale). Just remember to map and turn on the Action Camera Mode if you try GW2.

One of the things I really love about Guild Wars 2 is how there's always something going on, you can plan your day and rush through a lot of events for ridiculous rewards, or just be minding your own business in what seems like a dragon-forsaken ditch when suddenly there's 50 people trying to prevent the world from ending. PvP can be very competitive, a good place to show off your skills, or you can become a commander and guide groups through PvE events (conquering human stupidity is the greatest of all achievements).

If you really want to shine as an individual, Star Trek Online definitely gives you all the chances to carry the whole team you'd ever want (just stick to the space combat).

Have you tried Dragon Nest? It's almost dead but hey, it's free to play. Action fast rpg and it's old game. The concept of the game is great but ppl quit because the fact that MMORPG is dead and the dev barely keep the game from dying.

Instance base MMO, while it's cute and flashy, i rather suggest Warframe.

Ah! Warframe, I just started playing it today. It's the opposite from what i expected. At first I thought i was playing AAA title or something but it's great, fast combat and many customization.

Warframe is a ton of fun especially once you get started with it. Also I've been playing Star Wars the Old Republic lately, which is also very fun. It has one of the best stories in MMORPGs and there are 8 of them. BDO is also a good choice, but you need a beefier computer for it and it's pretty complicated.

Guild Wars 2 definitely gets my vote too. Gameplay is amazing, same for the community. Games still gets big updates and the world is very very large. I personally have over 3000 hours in it since releas, but at the moment I've stopped playing. I only play once a new story patch is released.

Personally I would have liked it if they didn't released mounts into GW2, it kinda killed the original gameplay for me.
