Keyboard Shocking/Zapping me

Go to solution Solved by Aprime,

lol we have this with our K95s and K70s sometimes depending on weather (dry/humid).

In our case it's static electricity, so try removing yourself from static-generating environments (carpeted floor, the desk pad) and see if it's happening again. If it isn't, welp, there you go and if it is, do as the others have suggested.

First thing to do is to stop touching it. Then i would send it back if I were you.

I agree with the Owl. A keyboard should definitely not be shocking you. Don't bother fixing it, return it, and if you like the way it types and lights up..then just exchange it for the same one, just not THAT one.

I would return it and buy a different keyboard. Mainly due to the brand not being a known, reliable one. At least to me.

there are scratches in the top layer that expose bare metal. the case of the keyboard has some charges going through it and then you ground yourself and you get shocked. pretty normar for a keyboard with a metal chassie

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

The keyboard is not shocking you. USB is 5V, you wouldn't even feel that. What's happening is your body has static and that is discharging through the keyboard because USB is grounded to the case and the case to the wall.
