SLI my 1080 or sell it for a 1080ti (pending RTX reviews)

Humanphyti

Hey all, I currently have a EVGA GTX 1080 Hybrid FTW. I have two options, either sell the 1080 and get a 1080ti or purchase another 1080 for SLI. I'm a little unsure what would be recommended.

Background info: running a 4k panel and an i7-5820K. Ergo bottlenecking not a concern.

All this pending RTX reviews or course.

Thanks!

Assuming you don't get a 20 series card, I'd recommend selling the 1080, and upgrading to a 1080 TI. Even on its own, it will give 1080 SLI a run for its money, and for less power draw, and overall cost.

Considering a 1080Ti is about 25-30% faster than a single 1080, as long as the games you're playing are SLI compatible, SLI 1080 would be the better option. But I would wait for reviews on the RTX series before making any major purchases.

Generally speaking, 3 out of 4 games are compatible with SLI, and nets about 70% scaling on average.

My advice is to wait for proper 2000 series performance analysis for your preferred display resolution, and make a decision from there.

As I only be playing 3 games. I would sli the 1080. Better than a 1080ti.
