I want to start to learn what I enjoy and have a passion for, which was computer engineering. But here’s the thing; I’m a complete potato when it comes to math, I can’t even calculate my timetables right off my head. And I honestly don’t know about how much science is envolved 

 

 

so is is it hard for a human like me or not to get a degree? (Bachelor’s)

Boolean algebra will be utterly horrifying for you then. Other aspects of that degree path will be pretty manageable with proper guidance and occasional tutoring for more advanced concepts at least.

 

I consider myself quite good in math, having been a college-level (mostly linear) algebra tutor a couple years ago and even occasionally tutoring a few calculus students who struggled, and boolean algebra was fairly difficult for me.

You should invest quite a bit of time in strengthening your weak areas. If math is one of them, spend a great deal of time trying to master it. If you can't master it, consider moving on to something else if computer engineering requires a great deal of it. As nice as it is to think that anyone can do anything, that's simply not the case.

It's harder than many other degrees but it's not among the hardest. If you are completely inept at math you'll have a hard time, but I don't think you can really tell that from high school.

It's not the only thing that you'll learn by a long shot, but there are exams that are 100% mathematics. Of course they'll teach you everything you need to know to pass them, as long as you put in the effort you'll be fine.

let's say any kind of engineering is 90% maths, 5% philosophy and 5% other stuff

 

except for food engineering of course that one only involves high school level maths

If Math isn't your thing, Computer Engineering probably isn't either. It takes 5 years to get a degree in Computer Engineering where I'm from, and in those 5 years not once did I have a semester with less than 2 Math-related subjects.

 

There was also a lot of Physics (which is still pretty much Math) and Chemistry.

Oh boy, I simply hate descrete mathematics. I am a computer science major so I had to learn shit tons of discrete math. Calculus I have no problem but discrete math.... These things scare me. I am currently learning graph theory and failing at the homework miserably 

 

 

Study has show only a quarter of students who enter university as a computer engineering major graduated with a computer engineering degree so it is SCARY. 

 

Boolean algebra hard? I find that thing to be the easiest of all the topics in discrete math. You just need to realize 0 is false, 1 is true. And 0 and 1(0*1) is false while 0 or 1(0+1) is true. 

 

It is easier to get the logic if you do computer programming  with bunch of if and else statements I think. Do they make you build logic circuits with it?

Still won't know until you try.  If you don't aim high you may as well learn how to sweep.   Because taking the second or third preference for fear of failure means always working a job you don't really like.

Try taking some math classes online start slow, refresh your memory. Then try doing something harder, the moment you can't climb up more, it means you need a tutor. The question is, do you have enough money to educate yourself ?

You don't strictly need formal education to learn about how CPUs work, at least not if you aren't doing it specifically to find a job (most companies won't hire you without some kind of CS/EE degree ).

Most of what i know actually came directly from the internet , and there are plenty of books and other material. I consider myself to have a fairly deep understanding of how modern Out of order processors work, which i started learning about with the ultimate goal of building a CPU from 7400 series chips or the like . however , amassing that knowlegde did take about a year of on and off work , so be ready.

 

Most of it doesn't actually require very deep math or science knowledge, that's more on the software/algorithm side . CPUs typically only execute a few different kinds of arithmetic instructions . The most complex ones are probably floating point , square root and division , but the difficulty is more about implementation itself . And science isn't really involved at the design level. Science becomes much more important for things like manufacturing and lithography , which isn't something you can do at a hobby level anyway.

 

there are plenty of resources available as well . Coursera offers great courses on the subject , and more specialized Q/A sites such as stackexchange or quora have plenty of ressources as well.

 

Edit : seems i misinterpreted the OP , didn't realize you wanted to go for a bachelor's, but thought you wanted to do this on the side . But what i expressed in my post is still generally valid
