Cherry MX Blue Noise Levels

aleksfacco

I've been looking into buying a mechanical keyboard for a while now and think I would like MX Blues the best because I like the clicky sounds and care more about typing because I'm not really a competitive gamer. The only potential issue I can see is the level of noise of the keys, as I live in a house in close proximity to other people and don't want them wanting to kill me every time I go to type something. I'm currently using an old Logitech G15 keyboard (I think second gen, whichever one has the orange LCD screen) and am a fairly heavy typer to begin with if that is any comparison for noise levels, and am thinking about getting the Corsair K70 LUX keyboard. Also, if anyone knows a store where I could go to try typing on a mechanical keyboard in the Phoenix (AZ) area please let me know. Thank you for any help you can offer!

Edit: Also, has anyone used the K70 with OSX (*cough* hackintosh *cough*)? I would assume they'd be compatible but I just wanted to check.

Blue switches are pretty loud, they do sound decent and have decent keyfeel but if you type decently fast then you are in for a lot of sound

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Just now, aleksfacco said:

The Browns don't really make much of a clicky sound, though it will make a sound if you bottom it out. And it's much less tactile.

For more tactile tactile switches, there's things like Zealios, Zilents and Box Royals. I think Matias also has some tactile switches.

The force used in typing also affects how much noise it makes, since hitting the bottom of the keystroke also produces noise

Okay, I might want to consider the browns then because based on my use of my g15 I will probably be bottoming out the keys (it also helps that the brown version is on sale on amazon right now).
