I’m getting my i3-8350k in tomorrow morning. Any of you guys game on it? I’m going to be pairing it with a gtx 1070. What’s your thoughts on it? And if you have one yourself how do you like it for gaming?

it would be mostly fine, but if you're gaming on 1080p you might see it lacking in some games

I don’t know though I’ve seen games like far cry 5, gta v, battle field 1 being ran without a flaw maxed out at 1080p so hopefully the processor performs like I’ve seen it in some videos ?

You'll be fine for gaming with a 1070, especially if you get a decent overclock on it. What kind of cooler are you going to use?

Probably should have gone with the i5 8400 instead, but it'll be fine.

Well, based on my experiences 4 threads can be a serious bottleneck in some games. I mostly feel it in BF1, but I'm still not sure if it's because I'm running a 4c/4t CPU, or is it because it's over 6 years old :D

If a game doesn't make use of more than 4 threads (which at this point is the vast majority of them) you won't get any benefit from getting any more. IPC and clock speed are more important than raw core count, always have been. The 8350k has really good both of those.

i3 8350K is pretty expensive for an i3, add some cash for i5 8600K if you want to futureproof a little. 4C/4T is going to get outdated sooner or later when most CPUs now getting 6 core at the very least.
